We played the Imokilly League semi final last Saturday afternoon at home. In an evenly balanced contest and contending with a strong wind the girls put in a huge effort , fought for every ball, but against a strong Cobh team it was not to be our day. Congratulations to Cobh. Well done to all the panel and management of our under 13’s who have had a great season.

Cork Senior Camogie
On Sunday morning the Cork Senior Camogie team held an open training session in Midleton ahead of the All Ireland Camogie Final on September 11th.  The weather did not dampen the spirits of the many supporters that came along to meet their heroes. After over an hour and a half on the field the Cork team were as always very generous with their time signing autographs, posing for pictures and chatting to their fans.  We wish them every success in the final, and look forward to our trip to Croke Park. Thanks to Midleton GAA for accommodating.   Thanks to all who helped with the coffee morning.

A busy but very enjoyable few outings for the U8's this week. With the time of year we understandably we have lots of lads on holidays but were still able to field three teams on Saturday at a Monster football blitz in Killeagh. Thankfully the rain held off and made for a great outing for the lads and it was great to see very good improvements in football in the last year as was the great team work displayed. Each team had 3 x 20 min matches against teams from Glanmire, Erins Own, Carrigtwohill, Kilta Og, St Colmans and Youghal.  Also this week we had some very competitive hurling matches against Douglas who came to Midleton on Wednesday night. Good to see the lads enjoying themselves before, during and after each event. Thanks to the players, coaches, Shane Supple and Douglas.

Fe 10
We played a football mini League match away to Bandon last Saturday morning. We fielded two teams. In what were very windy conditions to their credit both teams battled their way to an aggregate victory.  Well done to all, thanks to the parents who made the journey to Bandon. Training continues on Wednesday evening in St Colman’s.
Our next outing will be Hurling V Sars away. Time TBC

Football League result: Midleton 5-16 Fermoy 2-04
Last Monday evening, we had an easy and deserved win against a gallant Fermoy team. We  led from the very start and piled on early pressure. We took over in the second half and really it was all one way traffic till the end.

Premier 1Football Championship: Midleton 1-10 v Beara 0-11
At a windswept Drimoleague on Saturday we secured a quarter final place in the Championship with a two point win over Divisional side Beara. This was a win that was born out of doggedness and hard work as the outcome was in doubt until the final whistle. In the opening half we played into the stiff wind and were well positioned with a half time score of 0-6 each. In the opening quarter of the second half Beara played some magnificient football and roared into a two point lead at 0-10 to 0-8. Then we played a long ball through, which was won by our inside forward and was hammered to the net by Griffin Hurley. Beara to their credit pointed shortly afterwards to level matters up at 1-8 to 0-11. We shortly after added another free and then in one of the best attacks of the game, Beara went for goal and fortunately for us, this effort hit the post and we were left off the hook. We went down the field and tapped over another point and from this kick out, the Ref blew the final whistle. This was a great result for us in the heartland of Football in West Cork against a powerful Beara side. We now face St Michael's in the Quarter Final in early September.
