Camogie
Our  U12's had a busy week this week with two sporting & competitive challenge matches played along with training sessions and a 2 day Summer Camp !!
The first match was played away v Youghal last Sunday evening. There was a strong wind on the night which helped us take an early lead scoring a goal in the first 10 minutes. At half time the score was level but Youghal's experience helped them gain the lead in the second half with the match ending with a win for Youghal.
The second match was played on Thursday evening in Rathcormac against Bride Rovers  in very wet and windy conditions. Midleton dominated the play in the first half but unfortunately the scoreline did not reflect all the hard work done on the pitch however the first half ended with Midleton ahead.  The girls had to battle against the wind and rain in the second half and found it difficult to add to their scores but never gave up trying. Bride Rovers came into it in the last 15 minutes but a strong Midleton defence kept our opponents at bay resulting in a win for Midleton. This team is going from strength to strength and gaining great experience from every match they play. Well done girls!!

Our 2016 Summer Camp was held on Thursday and Friday last, with over 60 girls participating ranging from the age of 6 to 14. The girls were given a great opportunity to hone their skills while having fun with Cork’s Laura Tracy, Chloe Sigerson, Caeigh Boland, & Hannah Looney and Midleton’s Martin McSweeney helped by our young Midleton coaches Lucy Wallace, Áine O’Neill, Rayanna Power who were a big hit with our younger girls. Thanks to the club for the use of their facilities. Thanks to our excellent coaches and our off the field and behind the scene volunteers that make it possible to run such activities for our girls.

Juvenile

Fe 9
On Saturday morning last we took to the field for another Monster Blitz. This time we headed to Kiely Park ( Sars 2nd pitch ) where we competed with 8 other clubs. Numbers were down due to summer holidays but we still had 29 very enthusiastic young magpies, split into 3 teams. Each team played 3 games, with all games very tough and competitive throughout. The boys once again showed their great skill and great determination to win the ball, when needed. Training continues each week and practice at home will help the boys to further improve their skill levels. I would like to thank Cathal O Connor  ( Sars ) for a well run blitz. Thanks also to the parents for their continuing support for the boys.

Fe 10
Monday the 11th of July saw 20 of our Fe10 players travel to Bishopstown for our first football match of the new league. Midleton fielded two teams. Both teams started well. The match from the offset was very physical and it took a few players time to settle and after a while they were growing in confidence and some nice passages of play from both Midleton teams resulted in some fine scores over the bar and into the back of the Bishopstown net. Team 1 was trailing at half time by 1 point on a score line of 3-4 to 3-3. Team 2 was leading Bishoptown on a score line of 3-6 to 4-1. The second half for Team 1 was more of the same in terms of physicality but with Bishopstown now playing with the wind, the ball hardly went past the half way line and the Bishopstown lads found their rhythm for scoring goals. Full time Midleton 4-6. Bishopstown 15-6. Team 2 grew and grew into their game and pushed on to win on a score line of 8-5 to 3-7. Bishopstown won the aggregate score.  Well done to all the players and thanks to the parents for traveling and supporting the teams on the sidelines and thanks to Bishopstown for hosting the match and providing the referees.

Saturday the 16th of July last Midleton Fe10’s played hosts to Inniscara in their second hurling league challenge match.  Midleton fielded three teams. There were some fine displays of skills on show by both the Midleton and Inniscara players.  The skill sets from both teams were very evenly matched and all the spectators enjoyed watching the many matches on show.  Midleton won 2 of their matches and lost 3 so Inniscara won on an scoreline of 14-13 to 9 -13.  We would like to thank our junior referees on the day Tommy O’ Connell, Adam O’ Connell and Alan Power who did a great job.
