Senior Hurling
We had a great win over Newtownshandrum in the quarter final of the Championship last Saturday in Pairc Ui Chaoimh by 1-19 to 2-15. The game was part of a double header where Blackrock defeated St Finbarrs in the curtain raiser. It was point for point early in the game before a Newtown goal had them lead at the break by 1-08 to 0-08. With ten minutes or so to go in the game the momentum changed in our favour when a goal from Cormac Beausang and two points from Conor Lehane turned a two point deficit into a three point lead. At this stage they were reduced to 14 men and we looked in control but as the saying goes “its never over til its over” and that certainly proved to be the case. In the closing minutes of normal time and into added time they scored a goal and two points to take the lead with two minutes left, but this is when we stepped up and showed great character, a free from Conor levelled matters and a replay was on the cards. A scramble for possession in our half backline resulted in Luke O’Farrell winning the ball, he drove down the field popped a pass to Cormac Beausang just inside their half and he duly split the posts to a massive reaction from the crowd. We won the puckout and the final whistle was gratefully sounded. Well done to all the players, management and backroom team on their great efforts.
Best wishes to Padraig O’Farrell who sustained a nasty hand injury.

Camogie (Camógaíochta)
U9:  Last week was  busy week for the under 9’s. We travelled to Killeagh on Tuesday evening to play the hosts. Another great display from the girls matching a very strong Killeagh side stride for stride! This was a very competitive game between two evenly matched teams with fantastic skills on display from both sides. Thanks to Killeagh for hosting us! On Saturday we were on the road again with a blitz in Inniscarra. The girls put on a great display in very poor weather conditions with games against Inniscarra, Rockban and Blackrock. Thanks to Inniscarra for the hosting the blitz and the much needed tea & sandwiches afterwards!

U14: The U14 'B' championship quarterfinal was played last Saturday evening against Rockban in Whitechurch GAA.  There was a strong wind on the night and they got off to a strong start dominating for the first fifteen with the wind behind them.  Rockban scored three points without reply however we started to settle in the last ten minutes of the first half scoring two points which led to a scoreline of Rockban 0-3 v Midleton 0-2 at half time.   With the wind behind us in the second half we began to dominate and took every opportunity to convert scores. A powerful goal  put us in the lead but they did not back down and scored another point from play. This was a tough battle between two strong sides who met earlier in the year in the Féile 'B' semi-final where Rockban came away with a victory on the night beating us by a point and going on to win the County Féile 'B' title.  A second goal and four points, two from play and from 45's put us ahead by seven points. Another scoring chance for us saw the ball hit the cross bar and rebound off the side post to deny us a third goal.  Rockban showed no signs of giving up and a point from play and a goal in injury time resulted in a final score of Midleton 2-6 v Rockban 1-5.  This was a well deserved win for our girls who put everything into this match from start to finish.  These girls have great team spirit and now go on to play Clonakilty in the U14 'B' championship semi-final, date and time to be confirmed. Panel: Jill Connaughton, Tori Buckley, Mia Tarrant, Ellie Collins, Emma Domeney, Yvonne Abernethy, Aoife Fitzgerald, Caoimhe Murray, Emily Lamb, Holly Duggan, Abbie Foley, Elle McManus, Saoirse Twomey, Emma O'Sullivan, Chloe Garde, Rachel Mc Sweeney, Ruthi Hennessy, Laura Goulding, Anna Sheehan, Rachel Ryan, Lora Dineen, Ella Murphy & Rebecca Crowley.

Croke Park Trip – On Sunday the 9th September two buses of enthusiastic supporters departed Clonmult Memorial Park for Croke Park for the All Ireland Camogie Final.
Our Fe14’s stopped off on route at St Vincent’s to play the hosts supported by our U16 girls. Thanks to St Vincent’s for accommodationing us and for the very warm welcome and hospitality.  Then it was on to lunch where both buses of magpies gathered before heading to the main event.  We were very proud to have two of our players Caoimhe Murray and Chloe Garde parade with their fellow U14 county players at half time in the intermediate match. It was a tremendous achievement for Cork Camogie to win both Intermediate and senior camogie final. All training times for the coming week will be communicated with parents.

Juvenile

Fe 11
Youghal was the venue again this week for the Fe 11 Dan Coleman Football Tournament.
We fielded three teams on day and to say that we performed extremely well is an understatement. From the first whistle to the last the boys played some brilliant football. There was excellent foot and hand passing throughout and the teamwork displayed by all the teams was fantastic. Team 2 reached the plate final losing out on scoring difference. This was run on a league basis. Team 1 lost out also, which was a knockout competition. Scoring difference once again mixed in with one or two decisions not going our way, meant by the narrowest of margins we lost out on an another final. A great day was had by all and I would like to thank Youghal for the invite. The tournament was run very well with a great spread of food and drinks after in the clubhouse. A special mention to Cian Hogan ( Fe 9 )who filled in last minute due to a few late withdrawals. He played really well in goals and only for him results could of been a lot different. Training continues this week, once again on Tuesday evening. Well done also to our Senior team on reaching the County Semi Final. Magpies ABÚ

Fe 12
On Sunday last we concluded our P1 hurling league programme with a trip to Youghal to play the locals in what turned out to be a very entertaining game of hurling.  We began brightly with early points from the in form Peter Barrett, the same player goaled after eight minutes but Youghal responded immediately with a goal of their own.  Our inside forward line particularly Adam O’Connor and Jack Foley were causing the Youghal defence lots of problems. A fine point from play from Carthaigh Cronin after great work by Jack Foley settled us before further points from Peter Barrett and one from Adam O Connor left the half time score Midleton 1.06 v Youghal 1.00. On the resumption they got off to a flyer with a quick point from play followed immediately by a goal all of a sudden we found ourselves under pressure and the next few minutes were frantic as both teams strived to get the upper hand.  Some fantastic interplay between Thomas Dunlea and James Mc Sweeney saw James riffle the ball to the back of the Youghal net this seemed to calm the nerves and Thomas quickly added a point from play before he goaled to put us back in the driving seat. Youghal then added another point from play followed by a goal from a penalty but the last ten minutes saw us respond with fine points all from play from Jack Foley, Odhran Dennigan and Cathraigh Cronin. On the day we had some fantastic individual displays Eoghan Fraser and Paddy Walsh were on fire in a very dominant half back line, Connor Williams at full back also had a fine outing while our keeper Odhran Rabbitte was very steady throughout. This was fine display and a great way to end our Premier 1 campaign once again all our scores came from play which augurs well for the future. Thanks once again to parents and players for travelling to the seaside town. Well done to all involved.

Fe 13
On Tuesday evening last the Magpies travelled to Fermoy for a must win game for the second week in a row. They were in the same boat as both teams were even on points in the table. It was a damp evening for hurling but we started brightly with a new look full forward line on fire scores from Evan Mc Grath, Darragh Fitzgerald and two well taken goals from Tiernan O Connell saw us firmly in the driving seat. Midfielder Alex Howard was working very hard supplying quality ball to his forwards and when Darragh Aherne put the ball in the back of the net the pies were in flying form. Score line at halftime read 3-7 to 0-1.
Our fullback line of Sean Cronin, Adam Collins and Conor Williams weren’t giving anything away and it was more of the same in the second half with Oscar Brennan Zak Smith, Eoin Higgins all contributed to the score board. Paul Connolly finished with an excellent point in a move that was started by Cormac Mac Aogunsa saw the game finish on a score line of 5-11 to 0-3. A great team effort by everyone on the panel. The mentors would like to thank all parents and supporters who travelled on the night. Panel: Evan Mc Grath, Oscar Brennan, Eoin Higgins, Tadgh Bohane, Darragh Higgins, Thomas O Connor, Darragh Aherne, Sean Cronin, Zach Smith, Adam Collins, Liam O Neill, Samuel Morrissey, Oisin Berdassa, Alex Howard, Darragh Fitzgerald, Thomas O’ Connor, Conor Williams, Paul Connolly, Conor MacAogunsa & Cormac Ryan.

On Sunday afternoon last we travelled to the city to take on a much fancied St Finbarrs team that were top of the football table. Once again for the magpies it was a must win game for them however this predicament seems to suit our lads over the last couple of games when their backs are against the wall this team seems to produce the goods.  We started sprightly with two fine points from Tiernan O Connell. Nippy corner forward Cormac Ryan struck for a goal and Niall Lang, Darragh Fitzgerald, Tadhg O Leary, Zach Smith added further points. On the stroke of halftime Oscar Brennan stuck the ball in the back of the net which left us with a healthy lead of 2-2 to 2-9. The bars up’d the anti in the second half but our lads also increased their work rate with Alex Moloney, Darragh Scanlon and Eoin Higgins covering well kept the bars at bay. Oscar Brennan got a second goal followed by a point from Adam Collins saw the game out. This was an exceptional game of football and the work rate by everyone of the lads was brilliant. The mentors were very proud of this display in front of a large crowd of local supporters. The mentors would like to thank all parents and supporters for traveling it is very much appreciated. Final score Midleton 3-10 v St Finbars 3-3. Panel as follows: Alex Howard, Sean Cronin, Darragh Scanlon, Darragh Higgins, Eoin Higgins, Alex Moloney, Adam Collins, Tadgh O' Leary, Niall Lang, Zach Smith, Evan Mc Grath, Darragh Fitzgerald, Larry ward, Cormac Ward, Oscar Brennan, Tiernan O Connell, Cormac MacAongus & Samuel Morrisey.
