Juvenile Notes
Fe 11
Midleton Vs Douglas Saturday 18th of October.Blustery but dry conditions in Clonmult Park, Midleton for the latest hurling clash between to great rivals Midleton and Douglas. Both these teams have been meeting since they were Fe7. They always deliver exceptional hurling and last Saturday turned out no different. This is probably the last time that these two groups of players will meet in hurling under the GO-Games format so it was always going to be interesting to see how their skills had developed over the four years. The two 11-a-side games commenced under blue skies. The first halves in both games were fast, furious and full of talent. Rory Hartnett, David Connolly, Ronan Gees and James O’Sullivan hurled their hearts out in one of the games which left Midleton with a comfortable lead at half time. In the other game Dara Codd, Phelim McGann and Ciarmhac Smyth had to work hard as this was a much tighter game. The second halves took off where the first halves had finished again some superb ground hurling, blocking and scope taking in both games. At the long whistles Midleton prevailed in both games. Ben O’Neill, Ben Lowen, Shay Bohan and Alex Quirke were all superb on one of the teams while Darragh McCarthy, Craig Collins, Niall Corcoran and Kelvin Barry worked their socks off with the other team.
