Midleton Hurling & Football Notes

Senior Hurling
Last Saturday evening in Ballincollig our hurlers lost out in the quarter final of the Red FM League to a hungrier Blackrock side.The game was very even in the first half with both sides trading some fine scores to leave the game at halftime at 7pts a piece. The Rockies started the second half with some well taken points, unfortunately we found it much harder to register scores with their defence on top. They eventually ran out winners on a scoreline of 0-10 v 0-18.Many thanks to all the players, selectors and back room staff for all their efforts throughout the year.

Minor Hurling
Last Sunday at Church Road we lost heavily to Courcey Rovers in the Rebel Og Premier 2 Hurling League semi final by 0-13 v 6-12. Team: Liam Franklin, Luke Morrissey, Gavin Bagnell, Conor Evans, Luke Dineen, Kevin Mulcahy, Kevin Rohan, Cormac Beausang, Seanaidh Smyth, Luke Finnerty, Kieran Maloney, Jack Enright, Garan Manley, Shane Buckley, James O’Brien. Sub used Mark Crotty.
       
Junior B Football Championship
Our footballers will take on Aghada in the second round of the Championship next Wednesday evening at 8pm in Rostellan.

County Board Draw
The launch of the 2014/2015 Cork GAA Clubs' Draw took place recently. The Draw has been an outstanding success, with the Clubs of the County making over a staggering €15 million euros since it commenced (at no risk to the Clubs as the Cork County Board funds the prizes and admin costs ). It also has enabled the Board to fund coaching and youth development in the County.
This year's prize fund is  a whopping €450,000, with cash, cars and holidays to be won in the monthly draws. To join, contact our Club Draw co coordinator Steve Sheehan, any Club officer or call to the GAA club.

Camogie
Winter training has commenced with changes to the training schedule as follows: Under 10’s Saturday mornings 10am GAA club.  Under 6, 8s, 12s on Sunday morning at 10am in the GAA club. Training will continue as long as weather permits with a plan to take the younger groups indoors in next few weeks.

Lotto
Jackpot was €7,200, the numbers were 12,17,20 & 22,there was no winner, the Lucky dip winners were Michael Crotty, Ann Ryan, Mossie Horgan, Kathleen Mc Carthy & Barbara O’Connor ,many thanks for your continued support. Next weeks Jackpot will be €7,400. Tickets are on sale at the Club Bar, O ‘Neills Bar, Linehans Bar, Maple Leaf Bar, O’ Farrells Butchers, Frank Murphy Butchers, Pat Walsh Paints & Chadwicks. The Lotto draw takes place each Friday in the Club.

Juvenile Notes

Davy Hogan Street Leagues
On Saturday the 11th we held the Davy Hogan Street Leagues Final. The day started with all the teams meeting at MARKET GREEN and marching through the shopping centre behind a Piper, up to the pitch for the last round of games before the final.
St Edna's and The Sons of Rest both qualified for the final which turned out to be a great final with The Sons of Rest pulling away in the end for a well earned victory. The Juvenile Committee would like to thank MARKET GREEN for sponsoring the Street Leagues and all the parents who brought food for after the final. Saturday morning training at the Main Pitch is now finished ,team coaches will soon text out Winter training times and venues. Thanks to all the parents that helped with the Coffee morning
throughout the year.


Fe12

Our footballers were defeated by Inniscarra last Saturday in the Premier 2 Football league semi final at home by 1-05 v 3-05, the hurlers are out next v Glen Rovers in the Premier 1 League semi final on Sunday 19th in the Glen @ 5pm.
 
Fe13
On Saturday last our hurlers had a great win against Na Piarsaigh in the semi-final of the Premier 1 League Plate by 4-10 v 1-02, we now face Ballincollig or Blackrock in the Final. We would like to wish the Na Piarsaigh player who got a injury towards the end of the game a speedy and full recovery.

Fe15
The hurlers lost narrowly to Sars last Saturday at Kilbarry in the semi final of the
Premier 1 Championship by 2-09 v 2-11.

Dean Ryan Cup
Congrats to the hurlers of Midleton CBS and our club players on their great victory last week over St Flannan’s , they now face Charleville CBS in the semi final.
