Midleton Hurling & Football Notes
Senior Hurling
Our senior hurlers in the wake of our championship defeat entered the Kilmacud Crokes 7 a side competition in Dublin last weekend.
The games began in the fabulous Bray Emmett’s facility; we defeated Kilmacud Crokes 2 and Borris/Kilcotton in our group games thereby topping the group. We then travelled to Glenalbyn for the quarter final against Mullagh of Galway and after a great game we came out on top once again. In the semi final we faced the hosts Kilmacud Crokes, this game was played in real championship style and provided the fine attendance with great entertainment. The game was very close throughout and only their greater experience playing the 7s game was the difference in the end when they held out for a victory by 4-05 to 4-09, they subsequently defeated Portroe of Tipperary in the final. In light of the fact that this was our player’s first experience of this Tournament they really can feel very proud of their efforts, thanks also to the management and supporters for their encouragement throughout a great day.
