Midleton Hurling & Football Notes

Senior Hurling Championship
Our fourth round Championship game v Douglas took place on Sunday last in Pairc Ui Chaoimh, unfortunately with the game level and three minutes left we conceded late scores to be defeated.
Despite the good start they got in the first half we settled well to lead at halftime by 0-08 v 1-09, but with almost ten minutes gone into the second half they had drawn level. In a frantic last ten minutes it was score for score with a draw looking the likely result only for the late rally by Douglas.
Our reign of County Champions is over for this year but the players and management can feel very proud of their efforts over the last number of months.
Final Score: Midleton 2-16 v Douglas 2-21
Team: Joe Loftus, Killian Burke, Alywin Kearney, Seamus O’ Farrell (capt.), James Nagle, Finbar O’ Mahony, Cormac Walsh, Paul Haughney (0-02), Peter Dowling, Luke O’ Farrell (1-02), Aidan Ryan, Padraig O’ Shea (0-01), Patrick White, Conor Lehane (0-10 8 free’s) & Brian Hartnett (1-01).
Sub used Seanaidh Smyth for Patrick White.

We participated in a very well organised Hurling Blitz by Erins Own last Saturday morning in Caherlag, the teams who took part were Brian Dillons, Douglas, Inniscarra, Sliabh Rua, Blackrock, Youghal, Kiltha Og, St Finbarrs, Nemo Rangers and the hosts.

The hurlers travelled to Togher last Wednesday evening and despite very bad weather conditions against our hosts St Finbarrs, both sides played out a great game with the Magpies coming out on top in the end by 5-09 v 2-09.

Fe 14
Midleton U14 hurlers picked up another valuable two League Points when we had a home win against St Finbarr's by 9-13 to 4-8 on last Tuesday evening. Midleton were on top from the start and great to see that all the Panel got valuable game time. We have harder games ahead v Mallow (away) on next Wed night and in our final game away v NaPiarsaigh. This has yet to be fixed.
