Midleton Hurling & Football Notes

Junior C Hurling Final
Our Junior C Hurlers completed a marvellous 3 in a row on Saturday last when they defeated Cobh in a very keenly affair in Lisgoold. Both teams gave their all despite the elements and there was little to separate the teams throughout the game. Midleton led at halftime by 0.06 v 1.02 mainly through the free taking of Micheal Keohane and a beauty from Joe Loftus. In the second half both defences were on top and we just edged ahead on the score board with points again from Keohane and Stephen O Brien when introduced as a sub. The final score was Midleton 0.10 v Cobh 1.05.
Congrats to Gavin, Mick & Ger on this latest victory, their recent success’s now stand at 4 “B” titles, 3 “C” titles and 2 League titles….. some going !
Team: Byran Rossiter, Patrick Stack, Sean Corcoran, Patrick Dunlea (capt.), Cathal Mc Carthy, Barry Fitzgerald, Brendan Ferriter, Justin Costigan, Killian Deady, Phillip O Neill, Micheal Keohane, Robert Williams, Paul Aherne, Joe Loftus & Kieran Maloney. Subs used Stephen O Brien for Deady & Robbie Barry for Aherne. Subs not used Brian Fitzgerald, Shane Goulding, James O Leary, Paul O Brien & Shane Buckley.

Senior Hurlers/U21’s
Last Sunday afternoon Padraig O Shea visited Midleton Community Hospital with the Cups and officially opened the Xmas market. Later that evening the players from both panels, selectors, club officers and supporters enjoyed the fantastic hospitality of Seamus Cunningham and Jerry Wallis of Wallis Bar. There was music and food for all which was very much appreciated, thanks for the great night lads.

Garda Vetting
For 2014 all Club Coaches need to Garda Vetted. If you have previously submitted a form & have not received a reply, the reason may be that the Youth Officer in Cork may have received the form 3 months after the date it was signed by you, deeming it invalid. All managers of every team at this stage have received forms for their teams coaches/selectors who are not vetted. The deadline to return your form is the 17th of Jan 2014 in the provided envelope (sealed) to Pearse McCarthy. We would ask everyone for their cooperation. Any queries you have please don't hesitate to contact Pearse on (087) 289 0888
