Junior Hurling
We have been drawn to play St Ita’s in the quarter final of the Championship but due to Seamus Harnedy’s involvement with Cork a date and time for the fixture has not been confirmed.

Last Friday night we hosted the East Cork Oil sponsored Junior A Hurling Championship game between Carrigtwohill and Dungourney. In a very entertaining game Carrigtwohill emerged victorious and now meet Castlemartyr in the next round.
Many thanks to all those who helped prepare the pitch, the grounds and also to those who arranged the parking to faciliate our regulars Bingo supporters.

Juvenile Notes

Fe 10
We were back in beautiful Lisgoold for a second Saturday in a row. This time our Fe 10 hurlers had a straight fixture against their counterparts from Lisgoold, Leamlara and Ballincurrig. Conditions being only a small bit cooler than the previous week meant they is was still perfect hurling weather. Both sides turned up with almost evenly matched numbers which allowed two games of ten-a-side run concurrently. The matches started almost on the stroke of 11:30am. From the word go the amount of hurling that both group are obviously been put through by their trainers was obvious for all to see as the array of skilful stick work and fitness was a pleasure to watch. Both matches were evenly contested. After the first round of games the teams were swapped which allowed a second round of games and so both Midleton teams played both Lisgoold teams. When the final whistles were blown all players were out on their feet and I’m sure enjoyed a good rest for the rest of the day.
Next up for the Midleton U10s is training on Wednesday evening 7pm, as usual, in Midleton CBS. Also a blitz is being prepared that will be run over a number of Saturday mornings in August. It will consist of Fe11 and Fe10 players from Midleton being divided up into 8 teams and each team will play each other. More on this later…

Fe 11
We travelled with 22 players last Saturday morning to a hurling Blitz in Dungarvan. Midleton entered two teams as did Ballygunner, Killeagh, An Gaelteach Ring, Piltown and the host club completed the line. The teams were split into two groups of 4 , we had one in each. Both of our teams which were evenly selected played outstanding hurling against stronger opposition but didn’t reach the knock out stages of the competition. All players received medals and refreshments afterwards from the host club Dungarvan for which we thank them so much for their hospitality.

Fe 13
Our Fe 12 hurlers along with some help from our Fe11 team made there way to Douglas  for the second match in the Fe13D competition which gives this age group their first taste of 15 aside games on a pitch full width and goals set on the 13m lines. With a good number of players away on holidays we were fortunate to have Fe11 players help out on this occasion. This was going to be a tough test taking on a very experienced team. For the first quarter of the match Midleton held their own against a far bigger team of boys. However the longer the game went on the more Douglas pulled away. Midleton to their credit never gave up and can be proud of their efforts. Next up are Blackrock away.
