Midleton Junior B hurlers win back to back championships

Saturday 6th of November saw Midleton’s Junior B hurlers once again take home the East Cork Junior B championship title.
On a day when the weather threatened to dampen the hearts, all proved well for the reigning champs.
After a slow start the Midleton lads took their chances and towards the end of the first half proved worthy owners of a 3 point half time lead.
To drive home their efforts an Eoin Walsh point restarted the scoring and Midleton looked settled.
Dungourney came back with 4 unanswered points to level things and asked the question of Midleton.
To a man Midleton dug deep and produced a great effort towards the end of the game. Probably the deciding score was a late goal by Mark O’Keeffe.
This was added to by points from Eoin Walsh and Keith Ryan, which saw Midleton drive home on a scoreline of 1-13 to 0-12.
Strong performances from defender Leslie Coughlan who gave a man of the match performance and forward Keith Ryan who’s scores proved vital will live long in the memory.
At the presentation speech by the captain Kevin McSweeney thanks was given to the selectors Ger Lawton, Michael Tobin and in particular Manager Gavin Power who has driven this team to their success over the last few years.
