Midleton Gaelic Football Camp a Summer Success

Midleton Ladies Football Club held a Gaelic Football Camp last week from 10
- 1 each day for Boys and Girls from the ages of 5 to 14. The week was a
hugh success with a total of 117 boys and girls taking part from the local
area. We were delighted to see boys and girls from St. Coleman's,
Carrigtwohill, Aghada, Lisgoold, Glanmire and Ballinacurra. All the kids
were put through their paces by Charlie McLaughlin, Director of Football in
County Cork, the club would like to say thanks to Charlie for the great
week of coaching which he provided. As we know the Cork Ladies Team are
going for their 6th All-Ireland Senior Football Title over the next few
weeks and Charlie has played a big part in the success of this team as he
coached alot of these players from an early age and helped them build on
their own natural talents. It would make it a very special year Midleton
Ladies Football Club if the Seniors can win the All-Ireland as Midleton's
Orlagh Farmer is part of the team. All the Boys and Girls got a specially
designed playing kit in the Midleton Colours as part of the Camp, we want
to thank Graham O'Sullivan of Kukri Sports for working closely with the
Club in terms of the Gear. The Club would like to pay special thanks to
Friends First Life Assurance Company for sponsoring the Gaelic Football
Camp, without Friends First help the camp would not have been possible. It
is fantastic to see a Company like Friends First willing to support the
local Midleton community and Ladies Football Club. Crystal Swing singer
Derek Burke was our special guest for the week, all the Boys and Girls were
thrilled to meet Derek Friday. Derek recently took up his position as
Celebrity Bainisteoir of Castleisland Desmond so it was an ideal
opportunity to learn some fooball drills and bring them back to the
Kingdom. Best of luck to Derek and his team in Celebrity Bainisteoir and a
big thanks from all the Boys and Girl for taking time out to visit. Finally
a big big thanks to all the people who help during the week and to those
who helped bring the camp to reality, there are too many to mention, you
know who you are!
