Midleton Hurling and Football, Ladies Football and Camogie Club Notes - February, 1

01 February, 2024

A dark cloud descended over Midleton GAA Club and the town of Midleton on Saturday when we heard the news of the death of our juvenile player and friend Kacper Kozlowski. He played hurling and football with us for many years but in recent years he has fought an unbelievable battle against ill health, which he did with huge bravery and dignity.

Kacper was GAA mad and the family were very keen to have a GAA funeral. A big well done to Kacper's U-16 coaches and team-mates who were outstanding to Kacper during his illness and once again at the weekend and especially at his funeral on Monday where they gave him a brilliant send off. Thanks also to club chairman, John Fenton, who spoke so excellently about Kacper from the altar in Holy Rosary church.

We would like to extend our deepest condolences to Kacper's parents Marcin and Alexsandra, his sister Zofia and all his family and friends.

Gone but not forgotten - Once a Magpie, always a Magpie!

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

Best of luck to Tommy, Conor, Brion, who have been named in the Cork pane for the National Hurling League. They begin their campaign on this Sunday, February 4 away to Clare in Ennis, followed the following weekend by their first home game, against Kilkenny under lights in Pairc Uí Chaoimh on Saturday, February 10.

Unfortunately there has been a rise in the amount of dogs being walked in Park South recently, especially during matches and training sessions. Please spread the word that only assistance dogs are permitted in both of our club grounds at Park South and Clonmult Memorial Park.

Please do not bring single-use plastic bottles to either Park South or Clonmult Memorial Park.
Please put your rubbish in a bin or bag and please bring your gear home with you.
And always be aware of the open water surrounding the pitches in Park South.
If you are a coach, please pass on these simple messages to players and parents.
All members are asked to respect referees and their officials at all times.
Also if you are a coach, last person out locks the gate, toilet and container.

As well as Kacper (see above) we would like to extend our deepest condoleces to the family and friends of Denis Hourihan (Riversfield Estate), John O'Brien (Lakeview and formerly of the Main Street), Eileen Butler (Melbourne and late of the Cork Road), Mary Leahy (Walshtown and formerly of Avoncore Estate) and Maureen Barry (Baneshane).
