Midleton Hurling and Football, Ladies Football and Camogie Club Notes - January, 18

18 January, 2024

HAPPY NEW YEAR

I know it's well in to January now but as this is our first notes of 2024, can I take this opportunity to wish all our members and supporters a very Happy New Year and here's hoping that the year will be a great one for us all, on and off the fields of play. #MagpiesAbú

2023 SEAN KEOHANE MEMORIAL LONG PUC

The Sean Keohane Memorial Long Puc took place as always on St. Stephen's Day from Lisgoold to Midleton.

We had a brilliant turnout on a beautiful morning and we raised €1105 for Midleton Meals on Wheels.

The winners on the day were: Conor Lehane, Killian Burke and Padraig O'Farrell (pictured in the top pic receiving their prize from Micheál Keohane on behalf of the Keohane family, who as always turned out in great numbers...thanks very much).

Middle picture is the start line of the adult competiton and the bottom picture is the start of the juvenile competition.

A big thank you to Sephen Butler Coaches and O'Brien Butchers Carrigtwohill for once again sponsoring this great event again this year.

IN THE RED OF CORK

Great to see five of our lads involved in the Cork senior hurling panel in the recent games against UCC and Clare. And they are back in action on Sunday (rearranged from Wednesday night) against Limerick in Rathkeale.

Well done Brion, Tommy, Conor, Cormac and Sam and best of luck for the rest of the year with Cork.

REBELS' BOUNTY DRAW - A LETTER FROM OUR CHAIRMAN, JOHN FENTON

'I write to ask for your support for the 2024 Rebels Bounty Draw that recently launched. As a club we are keenly interested in promoting this draw as it is a substantial and important fundraiser for Midleton GAA One Club. Last year this draw generated almost €30,000 for our club. We need to at least equal this figure for 2024 as we have substantial work planned for Clonmult Park and Park South this year and we need the support of our entire membership and supporters across Adult & Juvenile GAA, Ladies Football & Camogie. Many thanks to all those who have contributed to the draw over recent years and now we ask for your support again for this year so as to have the best possible facilities for our members.

In the month of January 2024 the fencing on the pavilion side of Clonmult Memorial Park will be replaced along with a section of the fencing behind the Railway goals. We also will also be increasing the length of the ball stopping nets at the Railway end. In park South, we have recently installed a new mains water system and have also purchased a second hand utility vehicle for maintenance use there. Other routine field maintenance work will continue throughout the Spring at both Clonmult Park and Park South. The overall cost of these essential works is approximately €75,000, so the need for a good return from the Rebels Bounty draw is paramount.

The first three draws (for January, February, March) will take place at the end of March. Last year the club purchased two Páirc Ui Chaoimh Premium tickets for club use and the first event in 2024 where these tickets can be used will be the Munster v Crusaders rugby game on February 3. We will raffle these tickets at the end of January for all fully paid up members including direct debit supporters for the Rebels Bounty 2024 draw.

Later in the year we will raffle these tickets for all sporting events, including the Bruce Springsteen concert, for all members of the Rebels Bounty draw 2024.

We would appeal for your support for the 2024 draw and help keep our club at the forefront of the GAA in Cork. You can also win up to €20k each month and have the chance of winning any one of 360 cash prizes including a once off Jackpot of €100k. The attached brochure gives all the details.

You can support by paying a once off payment of €100 or 10 payments of €10 by Direct Debit. The same link is used for both:

Make sure to put Midleton in the box when it asks your for your club.

Note: We have already met our commitment to Cork County Board for the cost of these draws, so Midleton GAA receives the full value of your payment.

If you are a member from last year and are renewing online or through the Rebels Bounty Office you will need your draw number. If you don't have it in your emails then please email David at the address below and he'll get it for you.

Also if you paid by Direct Debit last year you should automatically be re-entered this year. Check your bank statement for January as this month's €10 has already come out of peoples' accounts.

If you've any queries, please contact David Codd our Rebels Bounty Co-Ordinator at midletonrebelsbounty@gmail.com

Many Thanks for your support.

And always be aware of the open water surrounding the pitches in Park South.

All members are asked to respect referees and their officials at all times.
Also if you are a coach, last person out locks the gate, toilet and container.
