Midleton Hurling and Football, Ladies Football and Camogie Club Notes - November 30

30 November, 2023

Final reminder of our One Club AGM, tonight (Thursday, November 30) at 8pm. All members more than welcome....

Well done to our own Jack McKay who was elected PRO of the East Cork Board this week. Best of luck in the rold Jack.

Our U-21 A hurlers drew with Carrigtwohill under lights in Carrigtwohill on Friday night on a final scoreline of 0-20 to 1-17. They will now play Bride Rovers in the semi-final on Saturday week, December 9 at 12pm. Venue to be confirmed.

Our U-21 C hurling team took on Carrignavar at Clonmult Memorial Park on Sunday morning in the East Cork Championship.

This was a very good game and in the end we very unlucky to lose out by eight points after a very competitive game. With three minutes to play we were within four points and chasing a goal to get us back into the game but Carrignavar finished strongly with a goal and a point to our point to run out 3-12 to 1-10 winners.

Fair play lads though who put up a great show against a strong first team of Carrignavar.

MIDLETON: Zach Smith, Colin Sunderland, Fionn Kelly, Jack McKay, Tomas Dunlea, Darragh Codd, Luke Dean (Captain), Niall Lang, Eoghan Fraser, James McSweeney, Ben O'Neill, Ben Kenneally, Darragh Egan, Nicky Daly, Daniel Garde. Subs used: Adam O'Connor, Conor Morley, Odhran Rabbite, Liam Kelly and Odhran Dennigan.

We had our last training session of the year on the Wednesday night. A big thank you to Midleton senior player Mikey Finn who did some drills with the lads and had some words of wisdom for them. Also to Coach Chris for arranging a selection box and a water bottle for each of our players. We will take a well deserved break now and would like to wish everyone in the club a Happy Christmas.

We are having two Christmas parties this are the details....

Please note that the second one (Sunday, December 17) is for boys and girls from U-6 to U-10.

The very best of luck to our Fé16s in their Rebel Og P1 Hurling Championship Final against Douglas in Bishopstown on this coming Sunday (December 3) at 1.15pm. Please support Kevin and the lads if you can at all.

Our U-6 to U-10 Christmas party will be held on Sunday 17th at 3pm in the club, shared with juvenile boys and ladies football. See below for details.

Our U-11 and over Christmas party will take place on Saturday 16th of December in the club from 6pm. Music will be provided on the night and a great time is guaranteed.

Hard luck to our minor girls who were beaten by Blackrock in the championship premier semi-final on Sunday on a scoreline 1-8 to 0-20 at Clonmult Memorial Park. Hard luck to the girls, coaches and mentors. Great achievement to get this far.

Our U-12s finished off their season with a training session in Pairc Ui Chaoimh this week. A great night was had by all.

Our U-16s had an end of season get together in Pizzeria San Marco at the weekend to celebrate a fantastic season. Double winners of the Cork County and East Cork Championship. Many thanks to Mark and Gráinne O'Brien of OBC Building Contractors for their generous sponsorship.

If the recent floods in our town have taught us aything then it's the need to support our local businesses. As the Christmas shopping season is now underway, we are making a special plea to all our members and supporters to shop local this Festive Season and all year round. Especially we are asking you to support our sponsors (see below) because without them we would be unable to exist and provide the sports we love for so many people across our plethora of teams in our GAA, Camogie and Ladies Foootball clubs.

Thanks a million to all our sponsors, we really appreciate your support this year and every year....#UpTheMagpies.
