SO NEAR AND YET SO FAR AFTER BRAVE EFFORT

COUNTY INTERMEDIATE A HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL

MIDLETON 2-19 AGHABULLOGUE 3-17

For the second week in a row we narrowly came out on the wrong side of the result on County Final day in Pairc Uí Chaoimh....after a tough week on and off the field....this team gave it absolutely everything, as they have all season and in the end they were beaten by a single point with lady luck most definitely not on their side.

As with the seniors, everyone involved with Midleton GAA after extremely proud of this team and the way they battled all year and especially on Sunday last by turning in another excellent display. 

Well done to Keith, Barry, Padraig and Ian and all their players and backroom team for a wonderful effort all year. 

It is tough to take losing two county finals in two weeks but I've no doubt that the hurt will drive us on to victory over the coming years....have no doubt about it.......the Magpies will most certainly be back flying high in no time at all!!!!

UNDER 21 CHAMPIONSHIPS

Our U-21 A Football Championship opener against Glanmire was called off on Wednesday night. It has been refixed for next Wednesday night, November 1 at 7.30pm in Sallybrook. 

Our U-21 A hurlers begin their championship campaign on this coming Saturday, October 28, when we travel ot Caherlag to take on Erins Own at 2.30pm.

 

THANK YOU

As I said last week, a massive thank must go out to all our club members who rose brilliantly to the challenges that last weeks floods presented to our community. We most certainly stood up to be counted. Well done to all.

 

GAA EQUIPMENT AVAILABLE

Following our appeal last week to help out many of our players who lost their GAA boots and helmets etc in the floods, we got a great response. See below for the details on how we wil be distributing this equipment this weekend.....

 

AGM 

The 2023 Midleton GAA Club Annual General Meeting will take place in our clubhouse at Clonmult Memorial Park on Thursday, November 30 at 8pm.

JUNIOR B COUNTY FINAL

Our Junior Bs are taking part in the Junior B County Final on this coming Saturday, October 28 at 4p.m. in Castle Road. The very best of luck to the players, coaches and mentors. Come out to support the girls who have worked so hard to get to this occasion.

 

SUPPORT AFTER DEVASTATION

Midleton Camogie would like to thank all involved and who continue to contribute to the re-building of our community following the devastating flooding we experienced last week. In the worst of times we experience what an amazing community we have.

After the floods stopped them last week, our new batch of Magpies will take the Community Centre for the first time on Saturday, November 11, from 9.30am and if you haven't already done so you can still sign up or turn up on the day....

 

FÉ8S

A big well done to our Fé8s who hurled up a storm in Pairc Uí Chaoimh on Sunday last at half-time in our County IAHC Final against Aghabullogue. The lads also gave a brilliant guard of honour onto the field for our intermediates. Well done boys. Thanks to Denis O'Flynn for the picture.

GAA MEMORABILIA EXHIBTION

In November, a group of Irish GAA stars (including our own Orlagh Farmer) and musicians will travel to Kenya as part of a Warriors for Humanity campaign in aid of Self Help Africa.

This group of GAA players will take part in only the second ever All-Star, Male and Female game in Africa. The target is for each participant to raise €10,000 by November. The goal is to plant one million trees in Africa in partnership with Self Help Africa who have spent decades working closely with local farmers, communities and experts to be the best at what they do. Each tree we plant will represent a livelihood for an African family.

'An integral part of the project is to train farmers on managing their trees for this purpose. As a result, we know that the trees are looked after and cared for over the years. We want the impact of our work to be felt for many years to come, benefitting future generations and leaving a legacy we can all be proud of.

To help fundraise for this great cause, Orlagh, wit the help of Denis O'Sullivan will stage a brilliant exhibition of GAA memoribilia at Midleton GAA Club on this coming Bank Holiday Monday (October 30) from 11am to 5pm. After missing out last week due to the floods, bingo returns this Friday night, October 27....

It kicks off at 7.30pn every Friday night and is over by 9pm. A single book is €6. A double book is €12. We're having our biggest crowds since before Covid recnetly so thanks to everyone for coming in such big numbers, it is much appreciated. New players are always welcome....

 

SOCIAL DANCING

No social dancing this Saturday night.

Mary and the Club Shop will be back open for business this coming Saturday morning.

PLEASE PLAY YOUR PART

Unfortunately there has been a rise in the amount of dogs being walked in Park South recently, especially during matches and training sessions. Please spread the word that only assistance dogs are permitted in both of our club grounds at Park South and Clonmult Memorial Park. 

Please do not bring single-use plastic bottles to either Park South or Clonmult Memorial Park.
Please put your rubbish in a bin or bag and please bring your gear home with you.
And always be aware of the open water surrounding the pitches in Park South.
If you are a coach, please pass on these simple messages to players and parents.
All members are asked to respect referees and their officials at all times.
Also if you are a coach, last person out locks the gate, toilet and container.

 

CONDOLENCES
