EAST CORK U-21A FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

Our U-21 A footballers' opening game has been rescheduled to October 25 against Glanmire in Sallybrook.

THANK YOU!

This was a very difficult week for our town and surrounding areas with the terrible flooding that destroyed so many homes and businesses in our great town. While it was a dark few days for the town it was also a wonderful few days for our club and the community in general as we all stood up brilliantly to answer the town's call in it's hour of need. A huge thank to all our members of all ages who played a blinder. A special thank you to the Fitzgerald family of Broomfield who were a massive help.

JUVENILES

FÉ6S

Our Fé6 training that was supposed to begin tomorrow (Saturday, October 21) will not now take place due to ongoing flooding concerns in the town. A new date will be issued shortly.

FÉ13S

Congratulations to the Fé13 C3 lads on their brilliant league cup final win.

Finishing in top spot of the league gave us home advantage for the final versus Ballincollig.

Starting strong with an early goal saw the lads settle into their rhythm.

Some lovely passages of play and cool heads meant they kept the lead throughout, finishing on a scoreline of

Midleton 3-7 Ballincollig 1-5

Best of luck to our own Fé13s who are out in Premier 1 hurling shield final action this Saturday, October 21 v Kiltha Og at Glenville at 11am and to the intermediate hurlers in the county final.

FÉ17S

Well done to our minors for seeing off Douglas to win the C3 final at Clonmult Memorial Park last Saturday. Final score: Midleton 3-16 Douglas 3-10.

CAMOGIE

Our U-8s finished their season with a colour run last Friday night in Park South! The girls had great fun and looking forward to seeing them next year.

UNDER 11S

Our U-11s played their last of three County blitzes in Bishopstown on SaturdaY. Two U11 teams travelled and played three games each against host club Bishopstown and two teams from Ballyroe GAA. The girls did us all proud and showed us how far they have progressed this year with great displays of teamwork and skills. Well done girls!

UNDER 13S

Well done to our U13s who played last Saturday in the Fr. O’Neill’s Tournament plate final in Aghavine against St. Catherine’s. The team played with great heart, skill and determination against a strong opposition with St. Catherine’s edging it in the end. Great effort from all the players. Thanks to Fr. O’Neill’s for hosting the tournament. Well done to Saoirse on captaining Midleton last Saturday.

UNDER 14S

Massive congratulations to our U14’s who played up in the Under 15B Imokilly League final last Saturday morning in Rathcormac against Bride Rovers and came away with the win. The girls gave a fantastic account of themselves with each girl putting in a superb display from start to finish. Final score of 1-8 to 0-2. Great to end the year with a cup to show for their efforts. Looking forward to our next season.

Well done to our rock Jaimey! Immense as captain!

JUNIOR B

Junior B Camogie Championship Semi Final, Saturday October 14 at Clonmult Memorial Park

MIDLETON 1-8 ROCKBÁN 0-6

We qualified for the Junior B Championship Final after a very tough hour against Rockbán. In a low scoring and physical encounter our girls always looked like likely winners but were made to work to the end to see off a determined Rockbán outfit.

Kate O'Sullivan got the only goal of the game just after half time and that gave us a 1-5 to 0-3 lead which we maintained to the end to win by five points. Jodie Keegan O'Connell got two points from play, Sadhbh Beausang added a point and four from frees by Vivienne Gleeson was enough to see us home. The backs were superb all through and another clean sheet by Jill Connaughton was key to victory.

We look forward to our first Championship Final at this Grade on October 28th, time and venue TBC

GAA MEMORABILIA EXHIBTION

In November, a group of Irish GAA stars (including our own Orlagh Farmer) and musicians will travel to Kenya as part of a Warriors for Humanity campaign in aid of Self Help Africa.

This group of GAA players will take part in only the second ever All-Star, Male and Female game in Africa. The target is for each participant to raise €10,000 by November. The goal is to plant one million trees in Africa in partnership with Self Help Africa who have spent decades working closely with local farmers, communities and experts to be the best at what they do. Each tree we plant will represent a livelihood for an African family.

'An integral part of the project is to train farmers on managing their trees for this purpose. As a result, we know that the trees are looked after and cared for over the years. We want the impact of our work to be felt for many years to come, benefitting future generations and leaving a legacy we can all be proud of.

To help fundraise for this great cause, Orlagh, wit the help of Denis O'Sullivan will stage a brilliant exhibition of GAA memoribilia at Midleton GAA Club on the upcoming Bank Holiday Monday (October 30) from 11am to 5pm. You can donate on the day or if you can't make it (it's well worthwhile if you can at all) then you can donate at: http://www.idonate.ie/fundraiser/OrlaghFarmer
