LADIES FOOTBALL 

U-16 CHAMPIONSHIP SEMI-FINAL

Well done to our U-16 girl as who have qualified for the County Final after they defeated Bishopstown in the semi-final on Monday last. The full-time score was 2-10 to 4-10. The final will be held on the 14th of October versus St. Michael’s at 3pm at a venue to be decided.

 

JUNIOR A FOOTBALL

Our Junior ladies are back in action this weekend in the final round robin game with an away fixture v Douglas. Best of luck to all involved. Our U11/12 girls will play a challenge game before this game against Douglas. 

 

CAMOGIE

UNDER 7S

Our U-7s enjoyed a blitz versus Killeagh on Friday evening at Park South. The girls enjoyed practicing their new skills and had great fun on a beautiful evening. 

 

UNDER 8S

Our U-8s hosted Aghada on Sunday morning. It was a great test for the girls, very even and competitive games on a very warm morning in Park South. Well done girls.

 

UNDER 9S

Our U-9 camogie team made the trip to MTU stadium on Saturday morning for a blitz featuring teams from Na Piarsaigh, the Barrs, Nemo, Bishopstown and Watergrasshill. The girls as always played fantastic and were rewarded when they got to meet the Cork camogie stars, lift the All-Ireland cup and tuck into the post-match ice pops.

 

UNDER 12 (WHITE)

Midleton's White U-12 team battled two opponents on Saturday evening, Aghada, and the heat. They came out the victors in both. This team should be very proud of their accomplishments in league play this year. They competed excellently, showed great improvement on skills and worked for each other in every game and that’s reflected in the amount of great results they got like on this night again. Thanks to all the parents for their travels and support over the last while.

 

UNDER 14S

Our U-14s rounded off their championship group stage with a home game against Eire Og in Clonmult Memorial Park on Saturday afternoon. In blistering heat, our girls battled immensely hard for the hour to come out on top in the end against a strong Eire Og side. This win means that the girls top the group, with three wins from three, and take their place in the county semi-final.

Congratulations to Caoimhe who gave a fantastic display captaining the U-14s to a place in the county semi-final against Eire Og!

 

JUNIOR B

Congratulations to our Junior B team who came out on top on Saturday evening versus Youghal in Clonmult Memorial Park. The girls showed great grit and determination and came away with the win on a scoreline of Midleton 0-11 to Youghal 0-6. 

 

U-15 CORK PANEL

Well done to Roisin and Faye, who played in the National U15 Camogie blitz in Kilworth in beautiful sunshine They played Kilkenny, Galway and Tipperary in three really tough games for all the Cork players in which our Midleton girls battled real hard, as they did all year,doing themselves and their club proud. They went on to play Wexford in their respective final and came out on top to finish off a tough but extremely enjoyable day. Roisin and Faye said they had a really enjoyable season with the Cork 15s; learned loads and made some great friends and really appreciated the huge effort all the Coaches put in.

 

STREET LEAGUES

Best of luck to the girls playing in the final rounds and the final on Saturday at Clonmult Memorial Park. 

 

 

ADULT CLUB

JUNIOR A HURLING 

Our Junioir A hurlers are back in action this weekend when they face into a relegation playoff against Sarsfields on Sunday, September 17 at 12 noon in Rathcormac. Best of luck to Steve and his players as they bid to retain our Junior A status for 2024.

 

JUNIOR C FOOTBALLERS 

Our Junior C footballers bowed out of the championship on Friday night last when they lost out to neighbours Ballinacurra by 0-13 to 1-7 at Clonmult Memorial Park.

Hard luck Jerome and the lads and well done on the effort all year. 

Best of luck to Ballinacurra for the rest of the competition.

 

WELL DONE DECLAN 

A big well done to former Midleton stalwart and county medal winner, Declan Ryan, who last Sunday captained his adopted club An Tsean Phobail to the Waterford Junior C Hurling title with victory over Roanmore in Dunhill. Good man Dec.

 

JUVENILES

FÉ9S

It has been a busy few weeks for our team. We took on Bishopstown on September 2 before facing Douglas a week later. All the games were very competitive games and got positive results in the majority of these.
We were thrilled  with all our players, they battled for every ball and played some great hurling over the course of the games.

 

FÉ10S

The Fé10 boys played Blackrock in a hurling match recently in Clonmult Memorial Park. There were three teams in total with the boys showing great progress. The boys were especially impressed to have senior player Mikey Finn helping out with the coaching on the day – thanks to Mikey for the words of support. Thanks also to our young whistlers on the day, Thomás, Josh and Cian who were excellent with the lads also.

The Fé10 boys are participating in the Street Leagues (Davy Hogan Cup) matches for the last couple of weeks and are looking forward to the finals taking place in Clonmult this Saturday. The Fé10 boys will meet at 9am approx. at Market Green beside SuperValu where there will then parade behind the lone piper all the way to the GAA Club. This is a big day in the GAA calendar for the Fé10 and Fé11 boys of the club so we would encourage all families to come out on Saturday morning to support the lads. Everyone is WELCOME at the GAA Club that morning to enjoy some fantastic hurling – we will also have some food and refreshments available that morning also.

 

FÉ12S

MIDLETON 2-6 YOUGHAL 6-5

The Midleton U12 P2 football team played Youghal in a top of the table clash on Monday evening in Park South. Youghal won the toss and chose to play with the benefit of a strong wind for the first half. The travelling team made good use of the conditions and placed Midleton under a lot of pressure straight away. Midleton defended well for the first 15minutes before Youghal eventually found the net.  A purple patch followed for the Youghal boys who scored three more goals in quick succession to lead at half time 4-2 to 0-1.

Midleton started the second-half much stronger and even though the wind that assisted Youghal in the first-half seemed to ease considerably the Midleton lads pressed hard and started adding some well taken points to their total. Youghal scored the first goal of the second half before Midleton added two goals of their own. Midleton found it hard to score goals on an evening when they needed them. Youghal ran out deserved winners but the Midleton boys showed that they still have plenty of fight in them. We look forward to our next game where we can look to get our campaign back on track.

 

DAVY HOGAN STREET LEAGUES 

The Davy Hogan Street Leagues will come to an exciting conlcusion at Clonmult Memorial Park on Saturday morning, after the traditional parade behind a piper from the green next to Hurley's SuperValu. Here are the results of this week's games, the standings and fixtures ahead of the final round of fixtures and finals on Saturday....best of luck to all involved for what's sure to be a great morning's hurling (See Fé10 notes above for more).

 

 

FÉ13S

Fé13 action this week saw the lads travel to Dungorney for round five of the C3 football league V Kiltha Og.

A tight game, played 21 to 21 on Kiltha's request, saw Midleton take the win on a scoreline of Midleton 2-9 to Kiltha Og 2-4. Well done lads. 

P2 football this week was postponed on request from Kilworth. New date TBC.

 

FÉ17 FOOTBALL 

Midleton took on St Colmcilles in their final group game in the Div. 1 East Football Championship in Clonmult Park on Wednesday evening last

Midleton and the visitors exchanged early scores, Midleton taking an early two point lead matched by Colmcilles. Midleton took the lead on two more occasions with those scores matched by the visitors leaving the score four points apiece midway through the first-half.

Midleton then hit a purple patch scoring 1-3 without reply leaving the score 1-7 to 0-4 in favour of the hosts at half-time. The expected onslaught from the visitors happened but Midleton's ferocious defence meant they never looked like conceding a goal and weathered the storm to finish the game three points ahead.

Final Score: Midleton 1-8 St Colmcilles 0-8

This result means we will play in the shield final in the next few weeks. 

 

FÉ17 HURLING

Ahead of Wednesday night's County Quarter-Final we held a team bonding session last weekend.

A big thank you to St Ita's for letting us use their pitch for the training session. After that we went to Redbarn for a swim and some food. 

 

FÉ17 CHAMPIONSHIP QUARTER-FINAL 

MIDLETON 2-14 BALLINCOLLIG 0-9

The Midleton minors are through to a P1 Co. Championship semi-final clash with Glen Rovers after overcoming Ballincolling at a wet Mardyke on Wednesday night....here is Rory Noonan's report from the Echo.

The winners reversed their result in the group stages as they came out on top as they were the better side from start to finish.

The East Cork side were far the better side on the night and managed to keep their opponents scoreless from play for the entire game, a stat that Ballincollig won’t be happy with.

James McSweeney opened the scoring for Midleton from a free with Barrett adding a second before Eoin Dwyer got Ballincollig off the mark.

With seven minutes gone, Barrett got his first goal of the half as he pulled on the ball after his first effort was saved.

Two frees from Theo Morgan made it a two point game before McSweeney raised another white flag for the Magpies, to make it 1-3 to 0-3.

Frees from Dwyer and Morgan made it a one point game before two from Cian Stack kept Midleton in control.

McSweeney and Darragh Egan made it 1-7 to 0-5 before Morgan pointed another free for Ballincollig, with all their first-half scores coming from placed balls.

Stack was on target again and with the last shot of the half Barrett got his second goal, to make it 2-8 to 0-6 in favour of the Magpies at the break.

Two points from McSweeney increased Midleton’s lead at the start of the second half, with Darragh Egan also raising a white flag, to make it 2-11 to 0-6.

Two frees from Morgan reduced the deficit with Daniel Garde replying at the other end.

Morgan pointed another free, but late points from Paddy Walsh and Garde ensured Midleton ran out worthy winners.

They will now play Glen Rovers in the semi-final, yet to be fixed, while Sarsfields and Douglas will meet in the other semi-final.

It kicks off at 7.30pn every Friday night and is over by 9pm. A single book is €6. A double book is €12. We're having our biggest crowds since before Covid recnetly so thanks to everyone for coming in such big numbers, it is much appreciated. New players are always welcome....

Unfortunately there has been a rise in the amount of dogs being walked in Park South recently, especially during matches and training sessions. Please spread the word that only assistance dogs are permitted in both of our club grounds at Park South and Clonmult Memorial Park. 

Please do not bring single-use plastic bottles to either Park South or Clonmult Memorial Park.
Please put your rubbish in a bin or bag and please bring your gear home with you.
And always be aware of the open water surrounding the pitches in Park South.
If you are a coach, please pass on these simple messages to players and parents.
All members are asked to respect referees and their officials at all times.
Also if you are a coach, last person out locks the gate, toilet and container.
