HURLING CHAMPIONSHIPS THROW-IN
It's that time of year folks as the 2023 hurling championships throw-in across East Cork and Cork County this weekend.
Our first three adult teams are all in action in what promises to be a busy but hopefully enjoyable weekend.
First into the breach on Saturday (August 5) at 3pm in Pairc Uí Rinn are our senior team as they take on city side Bishopstown in round one. The players and management have put in a huge effort this year and we wish Micheal and all his players and management the very best of luck and hopefully there will be a large Midleton crowd to cheer on the lads.
Next into action will be the intermediates who are also in Pairc Uí Rinn for their opening championship game. They take on Cloughduv on Sunday (August 6) at 1pm (note the change of time due to the All-Ireland Camogie Final). Best of luck to Keith and his players and management team.
Don't forget you have to buy your tickets in advance for these games online - you won't be able to pay at the gate. The link for tickets is:
Last but by no means least., our Junior A hurlers open their East Cork Oil East Cork championship campaign in Lisgood on Monday night (August 7) when they take on Carrigtwohill at 7pm. Best of luck to Steve, his management team and the players.
MASTERS FOOTBALL
Well done to Barry Fitzgerald and Kieran Denihan (pictured below) who were part of the Cork Masters Football team that defeated Limerick in Mitchelstown last Saturday.

JUVENILES
FÉ11S
Our Fé11s had a great day on Tuesday at the Rebel Og Munster Club's Hurling Blitz played on the main pitch at Pairc Uí Chaoimh. Well done lads, you did the Black & White proud...#MagiesAbú..
FÉ13S
Week two of the Fé13 football leagues brought contrasting results.
Midleton 1 playing Premier 2 football, had a defeat to Youghal despite a strong middle two quarters. It finished MIdleton 1-4 Youghal 3-14.
Midleton 2 playing C3 football, had a comfortable win against Bishopstown. It finished Midleton 3-9 Bishopstown 1-4.
FÉ15S
Hard luck to our Fé15s who lost out to Na Piarsaigh away in their P1 Championship game on Monday night. This loss saw them eliminated from the P1 Championship but they will now play Eire Og in the Challenge Cup Semi-Final on Monday, August 14 in Ovens at 7pm.
FÉ16S
On Thursday evening last we captured the U-16 Premier 1 County Hurling League in front of a good crowd at Clonmult Memorial Park. After a very good league campaign, in which we had six wins from six games. We faced a good Douglas side, in which we had some close games down through the years. Down a number of key players through injury and holidays, we hit the ground running.
Quick scores from Peter Barrett and Cian Stack help us settle after a fiery start with high levels of intensity. With 15 minutes on the clock it was 0-4 to 0-2 with Douglas having a goal disallowed. Then came a period of dominance when we outscored our opponents 3-8 to 0-2pts. With the aforementioned Barrett, Stack and Mikey Pedley producing some quality scores giving us a half time lead of 3-12 to 0-4.
The second-half was a much tougher battle with our opponents putting us to the pin of our collar, with Shane O'Mahony keeping the scoreboard ticking over with three excellent points. Eventually we finished out the game as winners on a scoreline of 4-18 to 2-11. This was a fantastic performance from the lads.
Captain Nicky Coughlan accepted the cup on behalf of the lads from Martin O'Brien of Rebel Og and lhe ead by example over the hour also. We used 27 lads during the league campaign, because of holidays, injury etc. Each player when asked to step in gave their all, which is a great testament to this group of players. We are now finished and most of the lads will play there part for our Minor P1 and C3 teams over the coming weeks.
We would also like to thank the coaches for their continued support of these young men. Well done to everyone. One sour note over the last week or two were injuries to Matthew McSweeney and Cian Lawton, with Cian’s injury in particular setting him back for the long-term. We wish them both a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing them back in the black and white jersey soon.
FÉ17S

Our minor hurlers opened their P1 Hurling Championship campaign last night (Wednesday) when they travelled to Ballincollig to take on the home side.
Played in front of a big crowd points from Conor Morley, Peter Barrett and James McSweeney (two frees) saw the sides level at 0-4 each after 14 minutes.
Ballincollig then hit four on the trot to lead by 0-8 to 0-4 with half-time approaching but two lovely points from Peter Barrett saw us go in at the break two behind, 0-8 to 0-6.
After the restart it was a right battle with no score from either side in the opening eight minutes. Then on nine second-half minutes Ballincollig won a penalty which was excellently saved by Conor Finn. The home side converted the '65 to lead by three and it took us till the 15th minute of the second-half to open our second half accout through a James McSweeney free. Sean McSharry soon added a point from play to reduc the gap to one. It was point for point after this but then we enjoyed a purple patch with points from James McSweeney (2), Peter Barrett and Sean McSharry to put us inot the lead for the first time in the game as we led by two with three to play.
Ballincollig pulled one back with two minutes to play but that was soon two again following a cracking James McSweeney point from play.
It was looking like we had done enough to leave the Muskerry division with all the points untill Ballincollig won a free around 25 yards out in the 65th minute. Unfortunately for us the ball found its way to the net past a heap of bodies to snatch a last gasp victory for Ballincollig on a final score of 1-12 to 0-14.
MIDLETON: Conor Finn, Tomas Dunlea, Fionn Kelly, Adam O'Connor, Eoghan Fraser, Carthaigh Cronin, Josh Hogan, Sean McSharry, Luca Brodkorb, Conor Morley, James McSweeney, Paddy Walsh, Darragh Egan, Daniel Garde, Peter Barrett. Subs used: Odhran Dennigan, Cian Stack and Odhran Rabbitte.
