05 January, 2023

We hope you had a wonderful Christmas and all at Midleton GAA would like to wish all our sponsors, players, members, their family and friends a very happy and peaceful New Year and here's hoping it a successful on and off the pitch.

We would also like to thank everyone who helped us out in 2022 in any way, committee members, coaches, selectors, players, sponsors, those involved in preparing and maintaining our pitches and so many more people that work tirelessly for the betterment of our club in the background. We thank you all an hope that you stick with us in 2023 and have a wonderful year.

The Sean Keohane Memorial Long Puc took place on St. Stephen's Day and forty years on since the first running of the Midleton GAA Long Puc (the first in Ireland) it was a super success with a huge crowd turning out to compete.

The winners on the day (retaining their title) were Padraig O'Keeffe, Tommy O'Connell and Cathal Gunning and they are pictured above receiving their trophy from Kevin Hennessy and Kieran Keohane.

Over €1000 was raised for the Mercy Hospital Foundation on the day.

Thanks to everyone who competed and all who helped out with the running of this great event. Here's to the next 40 years....

Over the Christmas period the Club Executive ratified the following hurling management teams for the coming season.

Intermediate Hurling: Manager: Keith Ryan. Selectors: Barry Fitzgerald and Ian Kennefick.

Junior A Hurling: Manager: Steve Kane. Coach: Mark O'Sullivan. Selectors: Brian McCarthy, Criostoir O Cathasaigh and Kieran Crowley.

We wish them both the very best of luck for the coming season.

A massive congratulations to Midleton GAA senior selector Pat Walsh this week won the top prize in the Russell Rovers GAA Sports Pass competition. His prize was a choice of a trip to eight of the biggest global sporting events in 2023. Amazingly he turned down a trip to Croke Park for the All-Ireland Final to instead head for the Masters in Augusta, Georgia in April. Enjoy Pat.

Everyone at Midleton GAA would like to wish former player and now senior selector, Alywin Kearney and Jessica Long a very long and happy life together as they get married this week in Carrigtwohill.

Tickets are now also on sale for the 2023 Rebel's Bounty draw. We are aiming to sell 500 tickets this year which would net us a wonderful €40,000 which would do so much for our club. We think this figure is very attainable but we need everyone's help. The prizes are fantastic so we would appeal to everybody to reach out to family members, neighbours, work-mates to support this vital fundraiser for our club.

You can buy tickets a the link below but make sure that you enter Midleton in the section that asks for your club.

There are two excellent courses on this coming Saturday. Check out the posters below for the details of each course. Booking is essential at the link below and remember that the club will reimburse the cost of any course that our coaches go on.
