County Finals this Week
The last week say our Fe13 hurlers and footballers and our Fe17 hurlers contest county finals.
First up was our Fe13 footballers against Carrigtwohill on Monday night under lights in Carrigtwohill. When the sides met earlier in the year Carrigtwohill won the fixture well so a big performance was going to be required. The lads put in a fantastic team performance full of skill, speed, and determination to win out on a scoreline of 3:06 to 2:07.
Fe13 v Carrigtwohill
Next up were our Fe17 hurlers in the P1 Shield Final against Na Piarsaigh on Saturday in a lunchtime match away in Na Piarsaigh. Playing away didn’t deter the lads and we came out on top on a score line of 1:15 to 1:14.
Fe17 v Na Piarsaigh
The Fe13 were back in action on Saturday afternoon, this time in the P2 Hurling Final against local rivals Kiltha Og. These 2 teams have played each other in finals over the last few years and there was never much between the sides. The first part of the game saw us open a decent lead before a come-back from Kiltha started. Our lads fought to the end and some gritty defense kept out the Kiltha scorers with us winning out on a score line of 3:06 to 2:07. What a week for these guys!!

Ladies Football
U10 v Cloyne
After heavy rain the clouds cleared for a great evening of football on last Monday evening in Ballinacurra for the latest u10 match against local rivals Cloyne. A big turnout saw over 30 girls take part in the 2 games, with rolling substitutes to ensure all the girls got plenty of game time. There was great skills, of kicking, blocking, catching, passing and teamwork on display. Thank you to all the parents too for the support. We will be training under lights on Monday evening in Ballinacurra at 6:30.

Fé 9 V St Finbarrs
Our lads hosted St Finbarrs in Football on Saturday the 9th Oct in Midleton. We had 30 players wearing the black and white for this and we went with 3 Teams of 10 each. Our lads did extremely good in this and got some great scores throughout each of the games. All 9 games were very competitive and physical, and we would like to thank St Finbarrs for making the trip to Midleton and giving us a good game. Once again thanks to the parents of this group for their continued support.
Fé 11 notes.
Saturday the 9th of October saw 27 Fé 11 Magpies make the short journey to Carrigtwohill to take part in the Sean Twomey Memorial Tournament, along with Erin's own and hosts Carrigtwohill.
For the day, we were asked to field two mixed ability teams of 13 a side. Midleton black and Midleton white.
With only 15 minute games in the group stages and 5 points for a win, 3 points for draw and 1 point for a loss (if within 7 of opposition) each game was going to be important and we needed to hit the ground running.
That the boys did, with Midleton white winning all 3 of their group games and Midleton black winning 2 and only losing by a point in one game.
With a combined score of 26 points we were in the final vs Carrigtwohill.
Both Midleton teams now had to play a half each in the final. Midleton white stepped up to the challenge and played the first half. A phenomenal effort followed but unfortunately Carrigtwohill led by a goal and a point at half time. An equally heroic effort in the second half saw Midetlon black draw the game on a score line of 1: 03 to 1: 03. Extra time was needed to separate two fantastic teams. In glorious October sunshine, we had two halves of 5 minutes each to get the result we wanted. Midleton white worked hard to get the lead at half time of extra time, with Midleton black adding to the lead as the clock ticked on.
Unfortunately, a late goal by Carraig saw heartbreak for Midleton and the cup staying with the hosts, Midleton Fé 11 taking home shield and Erin's own the plate.
Final score Midleton 2:05 Carrigtwohill 3:03
The coaches could not be prouder of the effort and attitude of our Fé 11s today.
Thanks to Carrigtwohill for a well-run tournament, and to all our parents for the fantastic support.
