Minor Premier 1 County Hurling Championship
In Mallow last Wednesday evening we were deserving eleven point winners against the North Cork Divisional side Duhallow in the County semi final by 2-19 to 0-14.
They started the stronger and had two points on the board in the first ten minutes. We soon found our form and traded points until the 20th minute when Tommy O Connell scored a great goal making it 1-6 to 0-6. At half time we lead 1-11 to 0-9. We started the second half at a much higher tempo scoring 1-03 unanswered in the first ten minutes.....the Kevin Finn goal coming after intense goalmouth pressure. From there on in we traded points and despite Duhallow's best goal efforts our backs held out to keep our goal safe.
We now meet Glen Rovers (who had a one point win over Douglas in the other Semi Final) in the final on next Monday night in Pairc Ui Rinn @ 8.15pm

Senior Hurling Championship
Our fourth round draw of the Championship against UCC will take place on Sunday the 17th in Pairc Ui Rinn @ 6.30pm. The very best of luck to the players and the management.

Intermediate Hurling
We are playing Na Piarsaigh in the fourth round of the Championship on Friday next the 15th in Carrigtwohill @ 7.30pm. The very best of luck to the players and the management.

Fe 21 Hurling
Our Championship fixture against Douglas has been confirmed for Wednesday the 20th in Carrigtwohill @ 8.15pm, ET

East Cork Junior Hurling Final
Last Saturday evening we hosted the East Cork Junior A Hurling Championship final between St Catherine’s and Russell Rovers which resulted in a fourth title success for the “Cats” by 1-12 to 0-10, having led at the break by 1-04 to 0-04. In blustery but dry conditions and before a crowd of almost 1,000 St Catherines made up for their loss in last years final to claim the Jamesy Kelleher Cup.
After the game Chairman of the East Cork Board Dick Fitzgerald presented the cup to the captain Daniel Mangan, well done St Catherines and hard luck to the gallant runners up Russell Rovers. Both teams however will progress to the County Championship.     
The game was preceded by Lisgoold v Castlemartyr in the Fe21 B Hurling Championship which proved to be a very exciting affair with Lisgoold just holding on at the end for victory by 3-12 to 2-13.

At half time in the final the 1967 East Cork Junior Hurling winners Killeagh were honoured by the East Cork Board, John Joe O’Regan in his very professional and humorous way introduced all the players along with some those who represented their deceased family members.
Many thanks to both Art Supple who sang Amhrán na bhFiann accompanied by the Youghal Pipe band who had earlier led the teams in the parade around the field.       
We wish to thank the East Cork Board officers for giving us the opportunity to host the event.
Finally a special  thanks to all our Club members and Fas staff who assisted in the preparation’s in the build up to the game and to all those who manned gates, sold tickets & programs, directed traffic, managed parking, helped in the bar, etc. throughout the day, it’s all very much appreciated. All in all it was a job very well done.

Ladies Football
Many thanks to Hurleys SuperValu for inviting our U8/U10 Coaches to attend a skills camp with Cork Senior Footballer Paul Kerrigan. It was a fantastic morning and all of our coaches picked up plenty of tips to bring back to their groups.
Best of luck to our U10 girls and mentors who take on St Nicks in the league semi final on Monday night. Training for all groups take place in the Tech Pitch. A message from Coaches will be sent confirming times.

Camogie
U7/U8 - We travelled to Castlelyons for an U8 Blitz on Saturday afternoon last, all the girls put in a huge effort and played very well. Thanks to parents for taking the girls and to Castlelyons for hosting.
U12 - We play the U12 County semi final on Saturday next v Ballygarvan in Balllygarvan at 5.30pm
U14 & U16 – we await the draws for the next round of the championship. Well done to Jodie Keegan O Connell who played with the Cork U14 in a Inter county tournament on Dublin on Saturday last ahead of the All Ireland Camogie final. 
All Ireland Camogie Final - Huge congratulations to the Cork Senior Camogie team who reclaimed the O' Duffy cup last Sunday taking the title back from a very strong Kilkenny team and to the Cork Intermediate Camogie team who drew on the day against Meath to force a replay on October 1st.  Thirty seven of our players accompanied by coaches and parents travelled to Croke Park to support their heroes and weren't disappointed.  The club is very proud to have three of our own players participate in the U14 development squad parade at half time of the Intermediate final we'll done Leah Hogan, Jodie Keegan O Connell and Vivienne Gleeson. Thanks to the parents who travelled on the day. Corcaigh Abu !!!

Golf Society Outing
The away outing will take place on Saturday next the 16th of September at Youghal Golf Club from 12.30 to 13.30, everybody welcome to attend.

Juvenile

Davy Hogan Street Leagues
The eagerly anticipated annual Davy Hogan Street Leagues are set to commence on Wednesday September 13th on the main pitch at 6.30pm sharp. A draw for the teams took place following the Juvenile meeting on August 1st in the presence of the Juvenile Committee & Tournament Co-ordinators. All players will play a total of five league matches over the tournament.  The finals day is scheduled to take place on September 23rd following a players parade from Hurleys Super Valu to the Club. The teams can be viewed in the Juvenile section of the website.   
The Street Leagues tournament co-ordinators are Ray Fitzgerald and Ed Coughlan.

Wednesday night will see teams playing their first two matches;
Pitch 1. St. Enda’s v Owenacurra followed by St. Enda’s v Forkums
Pitch 2. Garryowen v Sons of Rest followed by Owenacurra v Garryowen
Pitch 3. Saints v Forkums followed by Sons of Rest v Saints

Following Wednesday nights first round matches the Club website will be updated with the results. Details on the tournament can be located on the Club website under the Juvenile Sections. We wish all our players an enjoyable tournament and remind parents to ensure players arrive in club gear in plenty of time for a 6.30 start and to bring a spare hurley and a drink.

Fe 9
Last Saturday saw a great bunch of thirty three players take on the adventure of a bus journey to the monster charity hurling blitz hosted by the Roanmore GAA in Waterford city. The second year this group of players have played in it and again a great day was had at an excellently organised and ran event. We had the added advantage of playing all our games in Waterford's county ground - Walsh Park. We had three teams and played three games each against opposition from Waterford, Kilkenny and Wexford. Every player gave it their all with some great performances across each team with full participation by each team member which was great to see as coaches. Six wins and a draw out of the nine games was testament to how well they played. More importantly we all had a fun day with the bus trip, signing, medals, ice creams and the craic was very good. Thanks to the lads and how well they behaved and to the many parents that travelled also.

Fe 11
On Wednesday night last we headed to Bishopstown to play the home team in the hurling league. Due to lack of light the matches were shortened but none the less highly entertaining.  27 players turned up and we fielded two teams, with so many players available maximising game time for everyone can be challenging. The two teams put in excellent performances which resulted in a victory for the magpies. Once again the performance was reflective of the effort put in at training and it was great to see the lads being rewarded with the win.  The lads also took part in the Super Valu Volunteer Football Camp on Saturday in the CBS grounds with special guest coach Cork Senior Footballer Paul Kerrigan, it was an excellent hours football coaching valuable for both the players and the coaches who attended, thank to Super Valu for their continued support for Midleton Juvenile GAA.  We enter what will be a very busy month with the Davy Hogan Street Leagues due to start,  our league programme to be completed and an invitation to St Finbarrs to take part to take part in the Sean Fitz  Hurling tournament on Sunday the 1st October  which promises to be a very competitive affair against Sars, Glen Rovers, and St Finbarrs. Here’s looking forward to the last few weeks of what has being a very busy season.

Rebel Og Fe 14 Hurling Premier 1 Championship Final: Midleton v Douglas
We played Ballincollig in the quarter final of the FE 14 C3 Hurling Championship on Friday last at Clonmult Memorial Park. It was a bit breezy when the game started at 6:45pm. We were first off the mark with a point from Kelvin Barry. At this early stage we had settled well and possession was just about even. Our defenders Roan Spillane, Niall Corcoran and Rory Hartnett were playing some great hurling. Shay Bohan was having a big impact at midfield. and up front Phelim Magann and Ben O’Neill were starting to have an impact. Evan Kelly nonchalantly knocked over our second point just before Ben O’Neill added a third. James Condon then hit a purple patch with three fine points before the half time break.
Half time score: Midleton 0-06 v Ballincollig 1-03
Early in the second half Ben O’Neill‘s ‘first time pull’ had the ball in the back of the Ballincollig net. This was our first goal but then Ballincollig reeled off a number of scores to put them in a commanding lead. A point from Ronan Gies closed the difference. And then a trademark Mikey Finn opportunist goal brought us to within four points. In the closing stages further points from Mikey Finn and James Condon left us trailing by a goal. Try as they might our boys just were not able to close it any further before the final whistle blew.
Final Score: Midleton 2-09 v Ballincollig 3-09.
