On last Thursday evening 22nd, the U14 team traveled to Whitechurch to play Rockban in a challenge match. We travelled with the minimum 15 player and it was an opportunity to give some of our younger fringe squad members an opportunity to play.
We elected to play with the wind in the first and despite a huge amount of possession we only managed 0-3 points in the early exchanges. Rockban countered with a goal of their own and the ides were all square 1-0 to 0-3 at the interval.
At the resumption Rockban scored some early points and indeed Midleton were 3 points a drift at one stage, however the girls showed great fighting spirit to finish strongly to take a single point victory 2-4 to2-3.
Our next encounter is U14 A championship fixture away to Fr O'Neills next thursday 29th Aug.
