Saturday 09 Mar 2013 Junior/Minor - Intermediate County League

Midleton GAA (2-20) vs Inch Rovers (1-04)

Inch, 17:15PM

Result and brief match report.
Ladies football Intermediate County league
Midleton 2-20 Inch Rovers 1-4
Referee AJ Cronin (Mayfield)

We came down to play Inch Rovers in the first round of the league with high hopes as we are getting good numbers to training and the panel are working very hard, but still knowing we're heading into the lion’s den.
We got off to a good start and were able to keep control of the ball for long stages of the first half, with nice scores coming from a lot of our forwards. Our defence was very strong and worked well as unit, giving good ball to our midfield pair who travelled up and down the pitch with a great work rate. We didn't have it all our own way, as at times Inch Rovers were getting on top of play and were unlucky not to get more scores. We went in at the break with a score line in our favour of Midleton 1-12 Inch Rovers 1-2
We started the second half and again got a few nice scores. Inch Rovers were up for it after the break and Jill Butler had to be on her toes on the few occasions our defence was breached. We got back on top again 10mins into the half and were happy to see our two subs arrive. Straight from work they went into the game to allow us bring off players who had picked up slight injuries but were battling on for the team. There were great goals at each end and although we got the lion’s share of the points in this half Inch were tough and played out strong to the final whistle, getting to try out some new faces.
AJ Cronin had a good game with the whistle, not needing to use it much as the spirit of the game didn't require it.
