Sunday 20 Nov 2011 Fe 21 - Hurling Championship

Duhallow (0-08) vs Midleton GAA (1-11)

Pairc Ui Rinn, 18:00PM

Fe 21 A Hurling Final
Midleton 1-11 Duhallow 0-08
Well done to all involved with the Fe 21 Hurlers on their superb victory in the County final on Sunday evening last at a damp Pairc Ui Rinn. It was nail biting stuff for long periods as we played some excellent hurling but were struggling to convert out superiority in general play to actual scores. It was a difficult night for hurling but some of the stick work displayed by Midleton was sublime given the conditions. Our shooting was frustrating to watch but when it mattered most with the game in the balance the lads kept working and the decisive scores came. It was great to see the cup being presented to James Nagle in the stand in front of the large  Midleton support who wore their colours proudly on the night. In his victory speech James paid tribute to his team mates and mentors on an excellent years work. He also paid tribute to Duhallow who never gave up on the night and were right in the game until the last five minutes. He mentioned Cian McCarthy and wished him a speedy recovery. He also mentioned the late Sean Keohane and no man would have been prouder of the achievement of the lads on the night. It was a fitting finale to a great effort all year from this group of players be it at Senior, Minor, Junior level. They are a credit to themselves and their families. Well done to the mentors who delivered on our favourites tags which is not always the easiest to achieve.
