Midleton Fe 9’s play Glanmire Football Blitz
There was no hurling training last Saturday 18th as Our Fe 9 players made their way to The Pike for a football blitz.
It was to be a long day as we brought 21 players which meant two teams playing opposition from Inniscarra, Mallow, Carrigaline, Glanmire and Fermoy.
The games were to be played under Go Games rules and used the zonal system in order to allow players of all levels get on the ball.
Refereeing was strict and some lessons were learned about ball picking and tackling.
As for the games Midleton although mainly hurling focused showed very well on the day.
Both teams started very well in their first game against Inniscarra and brought determination and skill into the remainder of the matches. It was no surprise that Carrigaline and Glanmire would be the strongest but to Midleton’s credit they held their own and proved strong.
Some very tired kids gave one last effort in their last game and finished as strongly as they began.
