Saturday 04 Sep 2010 Fe 10 - Hurling Blitz

Midleton GAA () vs Moyle Rovers (Tipp) ()

Tipperary, 12:00PM

At 8.30am on Saturday morning last the Fe 9 coaches and parents were wondering whether it would be a wasted trip to Tipp. And the rain came down all the way to Moyle Rovers but when we got there the mist lifted and the day turned out to be a scorcher.
Our lads were running a bit late and once at the pitch it was a matter of on with the boots and staight into the action for their first game against the home team Moyle Rovers.
Unlike our recent matches this blitz was to be played on a 15 a side basis.
After a somewhat quiet start Midleton got into their stride and in the second half gave the required push to see them through.

Match 2 saw Midleton face Clonea Power from Waterford. Another strong performance from Midleton as they got into their stride.

Dungarvan club Abbeside were Midletons next opponents and proved to be the toughest test. Midleton nonetheless stepped up and gave their all in a good encounter.

Ahane from Limerick were next up and again had some good players who battled well with Midletons lads in a good encounter.

Last up for Midleton were Moycarkey, again from Tipp. Just like the first match Midleton were a bit slow off the mark. No great surprise really; a decent drive from home and 4 matches down our lads were looking a bit tired. However shortly into the second half something clicked and Midleton took off. With some strong performances throughout the pitch they took hold of the match and really showed there mettle.
All teams received medals following the blitz and from there it was on to the club canteen for cakes and drinks.

The sight of our lads hurleys in the air and shouting with joy at the end of a blitz like this is what it's all about. Well done to all who turned out and keep up your practicing.

Our thanks and congratulations to to Moyle Rovers for a well organised blitz. The chance to play against teams from so many counties is a tribute to your club.
