Midleton to contest East Cork Junior A Championship Final
After a pulsating semi-final against Rockban played in Carrignavar lastSaturday,  the Midleton girls overcame a tough challenge from a very good Rockban footballing team, final score Midleton 9:10 v Rockban 5:12.
The pitch was heavy under foot that made running difficult and great credit must be given to both teams for their attitude and determination in making this a fabulous game of football. Both teams gave it their all and was much closer than the score line suggests.
We stormed into an early lead playing some great attacking football and went ahead by 1:3 to 1 point in the first fifteen minutes. As the game progressed Rockban began to find their way and started to get a hold on the game. But we remained in control for the half with some sterling defending and off the shoulder attacking went in at half time leading on a score line of 4:4 to 0:3.
The second half was very much nip and tuck with Midleton dominant in the first ten and the last ten minutes with Rockban controlling the middle ten. In Rockban's period of dominance they brought the score back to a few points when they scored an unanswered 3:4. The girls never panicked and completely dominated the last ten minutes taking the game beyond Rockban's reach. This was a game played in a very sporting competitive manner with both teams giving it their all. The reward for Midleton is a place in this year’s East Cork Junior A final where we wait for the winners of Aghada and Watergrasshill in the other semi-final.
Having previously fallen to both of these teams in the County Championship, the final is going to be a huge ask but we will put one foot in front of the other and keep going, this team doesn’t give up. But one never knows how a final goes. It will be a good way to end the season. "It always seems impossible until it's done." – Nelson Mandela
Panel:  Kate-Mary Cullinane, Caoimhe Morrison, Ciara McGrath (3:1), Claudia Kearney, Deirdre Kenny, Roisín O'Callaghan, Lucy Lawton, Deirdre Corcoran, Claire O’Brien (0:2), Lucy Wallace (2:2), Molly Beausang (1:2), Sadhbh Beausang (1:0), Amy Quirke (1:3), Rayanna Power, Alice Reddy (1:0),  Laura O'Leary, Ali Smith, Clodagh Finn, Orlagh Farmer, Rhea Buckley, Abby Quirke, Elaine Seacy, Ruth Goulding, Aoife Franklin & Aoife Madden.

Laura O Leary and Aoife Franklin are both members of Midleton Ladies Football Minor Team. Next April both girls will travel to India with Hope. As part of this the girls must raise funds to bring with them to donate to the street children that the Hope Foundation support in Kolkata. On the 6th of November at 8p.m. in Wallis Bar in Midleton the girls are holding a table quiz. The would be very grateful to the GAA and wider community in Midleton for their support on the night. Tables of 4 are €40 and there will be prizes for the top 2 teams as well as a raffle (kindly sponsored by local businesses) on the night.
All are welcome on the night and all the proceeds will go to this very deserving charity.

Camogie
U13 - Inaugural Clonmult U13 Blitz 29th October 2017
We hosted our inaugural U13 blitz on Sunday morning welcoming Rockban and Millstreet to Clonmult Park. Winning two hard fought games against Rockban and Millstreet we qualified for the final and yet another tussle with Rockban.  Unfortunately we came up just short in the final, the girls gave it their all but three games in a row took its toll. Congratulations to Rockban on their deserved win - and big thanks to them and Millstreet for coming to play. It was a great mornings Camogie and our girls gave it their all and can be very proud of their efforts and we can look forward to next year with great confidence. Thanks to everybody who helped out on the day to make it such an enjoyable morning for all the girls. Magpies Abu

U16 – We played Mallow last Monday night under lights in Mallow for a place in the Championship quarter final.  This game turned out to be a brilliant game of camogie between two evenly matched sides. We were led by Lucy Wallace and started very strong but fell behind to two quick Mallow goals. Once the girls settled down we began to play ourselves back into the game and quickly got a goal back. Unfortunately Mallow pulled away again and at one stage we were ten points down but credit the credit of our girls they never gave up and got some great scores. We got to within a point of Mallow but we just couldn't push on from that, eventually losing by two points on a score of 4: 10 to 5:09.  All 17 girls who travelled were excellent and in particular the 3 girls up to the age: Lucy Wallace, Áine O Neill and Rayanna Power. Well done again girls.
All groups will receive confirmation of training times by text/ teamer during the week.

Fe 14
We traveled away to Church Road on October Bank Holiday Monday to play Blackrock in the final of the C3 Rebel Og League. The two teams had only played each other recently with our Magpies coming out on top in what was a very close contest. Conditions were near perfect in Blackrock for the game. First off the mark for us was Phelim Magann with a well struck point from play. Evan Kelly was next to score a point that gave Midleton a two point lead early in the game. James Condon then hit a purple patch; three points all from play and each one of them better than the next. The final point of the half from the young Magpies was our sixth point of the day and was struck over the bar by Kelvin Barry after he was found by a nice cross field pass from Ben O’Neill. Our backs had coped admirably throughout the first half. In particular Liam McGrath, Niall Corcoran and Rowan Spillane repelled a lot of the Rockies attacks. Half Time Score: Midleton 0-06 v Blackrock 1-04.
The second half had only just started when James Condon added two more points to his tally for the day. Cian Murray was next to pop up in front of goal and slot over our ninth point. James Condon, Evan Kelly and a futher brace from James Condon concluded our tally of thirteen points on the day.
This was enough to see them claim the silverware by 1 point. Final Score: Midleton 0-13 v Blackrock 1-09
Panel: Brion Saunderson, Rowan Spillane, Niall Corcoran, Neil Fitzgerald, Liam McGrath, Adam Fay, Rory Hartnett (capt), Evan Kelly (0-02), Cian Murray (0-01), Kelvin Barry (0-01), Ronan Gies, James Condon (0-08), Ben O’Neill, Phelim Magann (0-01), John Spellman, Mikey Finn, Craig Collins, Daire Mooney, Tiernan Roche & Michael Roe.
