Intermediate Hurling
In beautiful conditions we had a fantastic duel last Friday evening against Glen Rovers at Caherlag in Round 2A of the Championship ending in a draw after extra time.
A slow start saw us behind by 1-11 to 0-07 at the break but we turned it around in the second half and more than deserved a share of the spoils when Sean O’Leary Hayes popped up with the equaliser to leave the score at 2-16 a piece.
Extra time failed to separate the teams where we were the stronger side throughout but unfortunately we missed a number of late opportunity’s for victory, we all look forward to the replay. Final score: Midleton 2-21 v Glen Rovers 2-21

Cork Senior Hurling
The Cork senior hurlers had a fantastic win last Sunday when they Waterford in the semi final of the Munster Championship in Thurles. In scorching weather conditions and before a crowd of over 33,000 Cork overcame the challenge of the Deise by 0-23 to 1-15.
Well done to selector Pat Hartnett, Conor Lehane who was a doubt going into the game with injury had a great game scoring 0-04 from play but unfortunately came off late with an injury which we hope is not too serious, Luke O Farrell was a second half substitute and scored a great point and Killian Burke was an unused substitute.
The final v Clare will take place in Thurles on July 9th.

Ladies Football
U8 League - On Monday last we welcomed Bride Rovers to Midleton. Both sides were very evenly matched and after a slow start we had a great game. Thank you to all the Parents for their great support on the side line.

U10 League v Delaney's. - On a glorious Tuesday evening we travelled to Delaney's with great numbers. From the start we were very strong and were on the scoreboard within minutes. The second half continued the same way and we dominated for the rest of the game. Another victory for this great team and a super team performance.

Training for all age groups continues at the Tech pitch from 6-8 pm, anyone who has membership still outstanding please contact your team Manager.

Camogie
U7/U8 - We travelled the short distance to Carrigtwohill on Saturday last for an under 8 blitz.  All the girls put in a great effort and played really well in very warm conditions. Well done to all involved. Thanks to Carrigtwohill for hosting.

U11/U12 –  We took part in a  U11 blitz in Fr O Neill’s last weekend. Thanks to Fr O Neill’s for hosting.  We hosted Dungourney in Ballinacurra pitch in the first of our U12 league matches on Tuesday evening in what was a very competitive match.  The first twenty minutes proved to be a tight affair with no score for either side, we managed to get a couple of scores  late in the half to go in at half time on top.  In the second half we stepped up a gear to take a comprehensive lead coming out on top on the night. Well done girls on great match.

Last Saturday morning we hosted Aghada in the penultimate football game of the initial round of U9 fixtures. Very warm sunny conditions were the backdrop to some great football been played by both clubs. There was some lovely skillful footballers on show and great to see all the players getting stuck in front of a fine crowd.
Honours even was a fair outcome and well done lads.

Another busy week for the under 11’s, on Tuesday we hosted Ballincollig in our  postponed hurling league match, once again we managed to field three teams,  though the result did not go out way certainly the performance level was very high, all present would  agree that it was as excellent hours hurling ably  assisted by our young whistlers. With a small bit of luck we will come out on the right side result wise soon as the effort and application from this bunch of players is excellent.
On Saturday we changed to the big ball and made the journey to Blarney for a 10am throw in. On a very hot, sunny morning we fielded two teams. Once again excellent performances by both teams resulted in a draw with one  of our team wining and the other losing by two points.  It was an excellent hours football played in a very sporting manner by both sides.
We train on Wednesday next – hurling with our next scheduled hurling match v Inniscarra at the weekend, we also need to pick up our hurling match v Blackrock.

Fe 12
On a gorgeous sunny friday evening the Magpies were at home to take on a strong Kinsale side in football. We started brightly with a lovely goal from Tadhg O’ Leary followed up with points from Niall Lang and Cian Lambe. The lads were like a team possessed in the first half giving Kinsale nothing easy. The mentors were very pleased with the work rate of each and every player on the pitch with Tadhg Bohane and Alex Moloney in flying form.
The half time was 1-03 to 0-02 in our favour.
The second half started much the same as the first with a fine punched goal to the back of the net by Darragh Scanlon and a fine point by Evan Mc Grath shortly after. Corner forwards Diarmuid Murphy and Andrew Burke we're also troubling the Kinsale backs and when Zack Smith got in for our third goal things got only better. Scores from Cian Lambe and Niall Lang put the icing on the cake with the final scoreboard reading Midleton 4-06 to Kinsale's 1-07. Again the mentors would like to thank all the parents for their support and our lads were really chuffed when they were clapped off the pitch.
Football is alive and well in the club! Well done to all the panel.
