Midleton Hurling & Football Notes

 

Last Man Standing
This competition is quickly coming to an end, we are now down to less than twenty five punters and with most of the "Big Picks" gone there's sure to be some excitement with next weeks games. More details on our Website and Facebook pages.


Senior Hurling
At the County Convention on Sunday we were drawn to play local rivals Killeagh in the first round with the losers to play either Na Piarsaigh or Youghal in the second round. As a reward for reaching the RedFM League quarter final this year we were presented with a cheque last week by the County Board and spsonsors RedFM.

Cork County Convention
A number of Club delegates attended the Convention on Sunday in Pairc Ui Chaoimh. Congrats and best wishes to the East Cork personnel who were successful, Dan Hoare (President), Ger Lane (Chairman), Tracey Kennedy (Vice Chairperson) and Kieran Mc Gann (Cultural Officer).     

East Cork Board Convention
Last week the annual Convention was hosted by Erin's Own, Michael Tobin, John Curtin and Ken Murray represented our club. Most of the outgoing Officers were reelected with Michael O Brien taking over the role of PRO from Derek Kiely.

Cork GAA Yearbook
A limited number of copies of the annual Cork Yearbook are now available from our Secretary Vincent Reddy or from the Club bar on Friday or Saturday night.

Cork Minor Hurling
Congrats and best wishes to Pat Hartnett who was recently appointed as a County Minor Hurling selector for the coming year replacing Mark Landers.

Social Media
Many thanks to all our supporters and followers for helping us reach some milestones with Twitter and Facebook recently. We now have over 1500 followers on Twitter and we are closing in on 1,000 "likes" on Facebook. "Follow" us and "Like" us for up to date Club News. 

Condolences
The Club Executive would like to express their sympathys to the family of Michael Mc Carthy late of Waterock who was a former hurler and footballer with the Club and also to our Juvenile selector Michael Carroll on the death of his father in Offaly recently.Full details on our Website and Facebook pages. 

Lotto
Jackpot was €9,000 the numbers were 4,6,18 & 21, there was no winner, the €40 Lucky dip winners were , Leo Hennessy, Maragret O Brien, Mary Mc Kevitt, Caol Anne Desmond & Frank O Sullivan, many thanks for your continued support.

Next week’s Jackpot will be €9,200.Tickets are on sale at the Club Bar, O ‘Neills Bar, Linehans Bar, Maple Leaf Bar, O’ Farrells Butchers, Frank Murphy Butchers, Pat Walsh Paints & Chadwicks. The Lotto draw takes place each Friday in the Club.  

 

BINGO for all every Friday night in the GAA Pavilion from 8pm, guaranteed Jackpot of 1,000 euro!!

 

Juvenile Notes

 

Street Leagues
Our Indoor training for the Street League,s finished up last Saturday for the Xmas holidays and they were all delighted to get a surprise visit from Santa. Training will resume in mid Janruary, keep an eye on the Club News for the date and time.  

Medal Presenation
Last Saturday evening before a huge crowd the victorious Juvenile teams were presented with their medals along with the Player player of the Year awards.
Chairman Cormac Quirke hostec the evening and thanked the players, familys , selcetors and officers for all their dedicated work and commitment to the Club throughout the year. Special presentations were made to outgoing Secretary Michael Franklin and Fe16 selectors Martin Mc Conville and John Mulcahy. 
Medal presentations were made to our Fe11s, Fe15s and pride of place of course to the history making Feile team by senior hurlers Conor Lehane and Killian Burke and Cork Ladies Footballer Orla Farmer. Vincent Reddy representing the Adult club congratulated all involved with the successful running of Juvenile affairs and wished everybody well in the future.    

Xmas Draw
The Juvenile committee would like to thank all who supported the very successful Xmas Draw.Thanks to all our sponsors who have been so generous to us over the years.Wishing everyone a happy and safe Xmas. Prizewinners will follow soon.

Sean Keohane Long Puck
The annual Sean Keohane Memorial Puc Fada will take place on St Stephens morning December 26th over the usual course. The Juvenile section will have a Fun puck whilst the Adults will compete in teams of 3. Buses will depart the Club at 9.30am sharp for Lisgoold. Please note that Vis vests are essential and everybody is welcome. Refreshments will be served in the Club immediately afterwards.
