Midleton Hurling & Football Notes

 
Senior Hurling
Last Saturday evening in Churchtown our hurlers were defeated by Newtownshandrum in a game which doubled up as a League and Tournament game by 0-19 v 0-12. Many thanks to Churchtown for their hospitality afterwards.
Team: Joe Loftus, Elliot Mulcahy, Alywin Kearney, Finbar O Mahony, Seamus O Farrell, Aidan Ryan, James Nagle, Cormac Walsh, Peter Dowling, Eoin Walsh, Padraig O Shea, Brian Hartnett, Padraig O Keeffe, Luke O Farrell & Padraig Nagle. Subs used Leslie Coughlan, Darren Quirke, Seanaidh Smyth & Killian Hurley.

Junior B Hurling
Last Sunday evening we played Erins Own in the second round of the Championship in Riverstown but after an entertaining game we conceded a last minute goal which finished the game as a draw. Final Score Midleton 1-14 v Erins Own 3-08  
Team: Coran Swayne, Pat Stack, Colm Leahy, Jack Enright, Joe Collins, Dave Hogan, Brendan Ferriter, Killian Hurley, Kevin Rohan, Mark O’ Keeffe, Niall Walsh (capt), Keith Ryan, David O’ Brien, Paul Barry & Willie O’ Brien.
Subs used Alan Cahill & Kevin Mc Sweeney.   

On Wednesday last we played a hurling challenge away to Knockanore Shamrocks in Waterford and had a comfortable victory in the night.
Team: Bryan Rossiter, Pat Stack, Sean Corcoran, Ian Cooney, Brendan Ferriter,Alan Cahill, Joe Collins, Mark O Keeffe, Robert Williams, Keith Ryan, Niall Walsh, Andrew Rea, Willie O Brien, Paul Barry & David O Brien. Subs used Kevin Mc Sweeney & Jerome Curtin.

Junior C Hurling
In Carrigtwohill last Friday evening we had a great victory over the host team in the first round of the Championship. Fielding a team mixed with youth and experience we came out well on top in a great game of hurling played very sportingly by both sides.
Final Score: Carrigtwohill 1-11 v Midleton 3-14

We now face the winners of Killeagh & Bride Rovers in the next round.

Camogie
Camogie Training continues every Friday 7.15pm  Midleton GAA grounds.

Endurance Challenge 2068
As part of Endurance Challenge 2068 being undertaken by Sean Buckley & James Colbert aiming to raise €500,000 a Marathon is taking place in Midleton on the 24th of August. An appeal is being made for stewards, each steward will be provided with a t-shirt and a safety vest.  The organising committee are hoping to have a bus on the day to collect the stewards at Midleton Park Hotel and drop/collect them to their locations. If anyone has half a day to spare for this very worthy cause Breakthrough Cancer Research please contact Louise Wilson of the East Cork Journal as soon as possible.

Lotto
Jackpot was €5,400 the no’s were 1,3,6 & 18 , there was no winner, the Lucky dip winners were John Paul O Regan, Ann Dunlea, Kathryn Smyth, Eileen Lehane & Maura Tobin, next week’s Jackpot is €5,600 thanks for your continued support. Tickets are on sale at the Club Bar, O ‘Neills Bar, Linehans Bar, Maple Leaf Bar, O’ Farrells Butchers, Frank Murphy Butchers, Pat Walsh Paints & Chadwicks.
The Lotto draw takes place each Friday in the Club.  

BINGO for all every Friday night in the GAA Pavilion from 8pm, guaranteed Jackpot of 1,000 euro!!

Juvenile Notes

Fe 11
Our hurlers will travel to Dublin next Sunday to play Lucan Sarsfields in a challenge and then will attend the All Ireland Hurling semi-final in Croke Park.

Fe 15
Our hurlers had a fine victory last Wednesday evening in Kilbrin v Duhallow by 2-06 v 5-12. They have games v Douglas & Bishopstown coming up shortly.

Fe16
Our footballers had a good home win over Passage last Friday by 3-07 v 1-09 in preparation for their game v Ahane Gaels in the first round of the Rebel Og Premier 2 Championship next Wednesday in Ballinure @ 7pm.

Lenovo GAA Skills Hub
Record crowds attended the Lenovo GAA Skills Hub last week in Midleton hosted by Conor Lehane and Orla Cotter. Boys and girls travelled from near and far to be coached by these two stars and a host of other local coaches. Well done to the Juvenile Club and Gavin Power for co coordinating this very enjoyable event.

Juvenile Training
The training and coffee mornings are back on Saturday mornings at the Main Pitch at the normal times for each group. FE13,12 and 11’s from 09.45 to 11, FE9,8 and 7’s from 11 to 12 and FE10 and 6’s from 12 to 1.
