Midleton Hurling & Football Notes

           
East Cork Junior Football League
Our Junior Footballers began their campaign last Sunday afternoon in St Colman’s Community College against Erins Own. It was a very close affair throughout and in the end a draw was a fair result. Final Score Midleton 2-05 v Erins Own 1-08
Team: Josh Deady, Brian O Sullivan, Joe Collins, Brendan Ferriter, Gavin Bagnell, Eoin Ferriter, Billy O Shea, Aidan Ryan, John Keane, Ciaran Maloney, Niall Walsh, Keith Ryan, Cormac Beausang, Sean Corcoran & Byran Rossiter. Subs used Jerome Curtin and Patrick Dunlea. Next game v Lisgoold at home on Sunday 23rd @ 3pm

Colleges Hurling
UCC continued on their winning ways last week with a victory over St Patricks Mater Dei at the Mardyke in their defence of the Fitzgibbon Cup .They now face UCD in the quarter final this week also in the Mardyke , best wishes to Conor Lehane, Killian Burke, Brian Hartnett and Tommy Wallace who are all part of the panel.

Allianz Hurling League
Last Saturday evening at a packed Pairc Ui Rinn Cork and Limerick played out a very entertaining draw. We had three club players involved, Conor Lehane played at full forward and scored two points in the first half, unfortunately minutes into the second half he had to leave the field with an injury. Luke O Farrell came on in the second half for Cian Mc Carthy but also left with an injury and Paul Haughney came on late in the game for his debut at mid field. Cork now face Laois away next Saturday and best wishes to the two lads in their recovery from the injury’s.

Stress Control Course
The third session of the Stress Control Course took place last Wednesday night and despite the inclement weather a great crowd turned up once again. The course will continue for 3 more consecutive Wednesday evenings.

Membership

Lotto
Lotto Jackpot was €1,600 no's were 9,16,22 & 28 , there was no winner, the Lucky Dip winners were Breda Smyth, Oisin Cotter, Clodagh Mc Carthy, Fionn Hegarty and Mags Fahy. Next week’s Jackpot is €1,800, thanks for your support.
   
BINGO for all every Friday night in the GAA Pavilion from 8pm, guaranteed Jackpot of 1,000 euro!!

Dancing next Saturday night February 22nd is to the very popular Dave Rea.

 

Juvenile Notes

Street League Indoor Hurling
Saturday morning’s at the Community Centre, coaching for boys continues and new members are always very welcome. The times and dates are as follows: Junior Infants from 12 – 1pm, Senior Infants 11-12 & First Class 10-11am.

Juvenile Registration
On Saturday the 1st of March the annual Juvenile Registration will take place in the GAA Hall from 10am to 1pm. Parents will receive a letter in the coming weeks on changes and membership rates. Registration will be for Fe 7 to Fe 16 only. All players have to be registered by March the 31st. Training for all groups is currently ongoing, please check with your son’s team manager for details of the venue’s and times.     
Terence Mc Carthy the Adult Club membership officer will also be in attendance for any parent who’d like to join the Club’s membership.  

Club Gear
The Club shop will be open on Saturday from 11am to 12, a full selection of gear is available with umbrellas and school bags added to the range. Anyone looking for Birthday presents can also buy gift vouchers from the club shop. Full price lists are available on the club website www.midletongaa.com
