Minor Hurling
Last Sunday evening in Ballyhooley our Minor hurlers played Mallow in the first round of the Premier 1 Rebel Og Minor Hurling Championship, they got off to a good start but just before half time we battled back to within a point at the break 0.09 v 0.10. Played with the wind in the second half they took the initiative and scored a goal from a long range free. But our lads responded brilliantly and fought back to score two late points we secured a much deserved draw. Extra time was to be played but the referee choose otherwise due to light fading.

Mercy Fun Walk & Healthy Club Project
In glorious sunshine last Saturday afternoon a huge crowd of players and their family’s  walked from the GAA Club along the Northern ring road across the Coolbawn and up through the main street in support of the Mercy Hospital. There was great excitement and colour with Red FM seeing the walk off and afterwards everyone was treated to refreshments in the Hall, thanks to all our helpers on the day.

We launched our Healthy Club Project last Saturday after the Mercy Fun Walk in the Club. Our basic aim is to help improve all aspects of health for our members, their families & the wider community. We had various stands set out in the hall with literature displayed and available for everyone.
Shirley O'Shea from the HSE gave a short talk on health promotion & advised she would help us out with what she could. Thanks to Margaret Byrne (Healthy Heart Stand) Laura Fitzgerald (Nutrition Stand) Martin McSweeney (Player Pathway) & Pat Buckley of the Lets Get Together Foundation.

Juvenile Notes

Fe10
We kicked off our season of U10 games with a Football match v Cobh at Midleton’s Clonmult Memorial Park on Sunday 28th of April. Both Midleton and Cobh brought panels which had 20-plus footballers so a decision was made to play 10-a-side and have two concurrent games. Both games started in a welter of excitement but by virtue of some very slick forward play by the Midleton forwards we jumped into early leads in the two matches. It’s fair to say that both our teams were well on top in the first half of both games. By half time we were turning around to play against the wind but we were taking substantial leads into the second half of games. In the second half it was the backs turn to shine and did they were able to show their mettle when it was required. Their tackling, blocking and clearances were superb. By the time the final whistle was blown in both games the Magpies had held on for two great wins. These games were a great start to the football season for us.  Next up is Lisgoold in a hurling match at 7pm Wednesday 1st of May, then a football match v Nemo Rangers at Nemo’s grounds on Saturday 4th of May.
.
Fe 12
Midleton's Fe 12's welcomed Inniscarra to Midleton CBS on Friday 26th for a Football league game. Inniscarra travelled with 18, two more than Midleton and our thanks go to David Scanlon and Conor Fitzgerald for helping us out on the night.
We played two games and split the teams evenly. From the start Midleton had the upper hand and showed the better skill levels. Inniscarra put it up to Midleton early in the second half getting some good scores. However Midleton upped a gear and both games turned out in favour of the Magpies.
Thanks to Inniscarra for travelling and well done to the players on both teams.

Fe15
Our hurlers had two good outings recently; we lost out to Sars in a good game in Midleton and defeated Duhallow away in Kanturk last Saturday morning 2.09 v 2.10.

Fe16
We have no more games until after the exams, the best of luck to the lads involved in the coming weeks, we would also like to wish both Cormac and Liam speedy recovery’s from their recent operations.

Coaches Training
We owe a debt of grattitude to Sean Crowley (Imokilly GDA) who gave up his Saturday morning to give a coaches training session to our Midleton juvenile coaches on the 26th April. There was a good turn out from the Midleton lads and the morning turned out to be very worthwhile. Sean brought some great ideas with him and even got some Midleton oldies to compete for the ball once again. Everyone left enlightened and are sure to take the ideas to their upcoming team sessions.

Saturday coffee mornings
With training back in action on Saturday mornings at the main pitch we have once again opened up the club lounge with free tea and coffee for parents of players. Why not drop in and meet up with parents from your child’s team. Any parents who want to help serving the teas and coffees would be more than welcome.
