Fe 9
Roanmore U9 Hurling Blitz Report 2012
A massive 34 Fe9 Magpies travelled by bus to the Deise for the annual Roanmore 7-a-side Charity Hurling Blitz in Waterford City held last Saturday, 15th September.
Midleton Fe 9’s fielded 3 very strong panels for the blitz. The weather for once this summer co-operated and so a dry calm day prevailed for the duration of the blitz. Congratulations to all concerned as all players contributed to a feast of hurling that finished off late into the evening with a medal and some welcome refreshments. All three panels picked up invaluable experience from the games they contested and it will stand to them all into the future. Thanks to the parents for having the children on time and well prepared for the day and a huge thanks to the many mentors and parents that travelled to help out. This group of players are now finished with the Roanmore pilgrimage and here’s hoping that the teams that follow on will generate the same many happy memories that I know this group have collected.

Bag Packing in Market Green
Representatives from Midleton’s Fe 12’s, 13’s, 14’s and 15’s were on hand at the checkouts in Tesco on Saturday last.
Market Green were good enough to allow Midleton Juvenile GAA assist shoppers and collect badly needed funds for the club. The lads were on hand from 11am until 5pm and not one egg was broken.
The club would like to thank Market Green, its shoppers and members of the juvenile club for their part in helping with this fundraiser.
Mercy Hospital Fun Walk
The Mercy Hospital fun walk takes place on the 29th of September. The participants will leave Midleton GAA at 12pm and will take a route around the town and back to Midleton GAA estimated time, approx 1 hour. Please contact any member of the juvenile committee for a sponsorship card. Cash donations can also be made on the day. Anyone that sells a minimum of €10 will receive a 'Fun Walk' souvenir watch. All proceeds from Midleton Juvenile Fun walk will go to the Mercy hospital. For more info contact Cormac Quirke on 0860783365.

Training
Training continues for all juvenile groups. Check the club website www.midletongaa.com on the juvenile team page for your child’s team training times. Team managers will update teams by text if there are changes. We would ask parents to encourage their children to practice during the week even if the weather is bad, parents can practice catching the ball indoors. Please remember to bring your €2 to training sessions. This money is vital to keep the juvenile section of the club funded.
We have re commenced the coffee morning on Saturdays. Parents with children practicing can get a free cup of coffee and admire their kids in action. Many thanks to those parents who are helping with the teas and coffees.

Club Gear
Midleton GAA juvenile club will have a shop with club playing and leisure wear open each Saturday morning in the clubhouse.

Ladies Football

Midleton U12 Girls Qualify for East Cork Football A Final: Last Friday, 14th  September,  Midleton Girls U12 Gaelic Football team played in the East Cork semi-final in Clonmult Park V Fermoy. Midleton played against a stiff breeze in the first half. The Midleton defence stood together as a unit throughout the first half and conceded very little in the thirty minute half. The midfield worked tirelessly and the forward line took their scoring opportunities that came their way in the half. Midleton were only just trailing at the half time break. The second half started just as the first half finished with the Midleton girls working their socks-off to keep in control of the game. Converting the majority of chances that came their way with great aplomb put the girls in the driving seat going into the final minutes of the game. Fermoy finished with a goal that left only the minimum between the sides but this gallant Midleton side held out for a well deserved win. Next up is the East Cork final.
Training continues on Monday nights at Midleton Rugby Grounds 6pm-7pm. New members always welcome.

Lisgoold Fe8 Girls Football Blitz

Saturday morning last saw the Midleton Girls Fe 8 Footballers travel for a blitz to Lisgoold. It turned out to be a huge success for all the teams that were involved and already it’s an outing we eagerly look forward to again next year.
The weather was kind to players and supporters. The games were all hugely exciting and the football was played at a very high standard.
Midleton Girls showed true grit and determination, giving both parents and spectators a sense of pride to see the level of skill they have achieved over the training season. The games were exciting thrilling and heart stopping at times. A true sense of fair play and team spirit was shown by these young girls ranging in age from 5 – 8 years old. The young Magpie footballers played games V’s Rockban, Lisgoold, Bride Rovers, Watergrasshill and Glanmire.
Lining out for Midleton: Mia Tarrant, Jill Connaughton, Sadhbh Hartnett, Elise & Solene Halligon, Leah & Nathalie Horgan, Aoife Mulcahy, Alannah Magan, Kelli & Rachel Quirke, Ellen O’Neill.
Important Note: Training continues every Monday evening at Midleton College 6-7pm. We’re looking for new members all the time especially in the 6-8 age group.
