Senior Hurlers Exit Championship
Midleton 0-11 Bishopstown 1-11
Our 2012 championship campaign came to an end at Pairc Ui Chaoimh on Saturday last when we went down to Bishopstown by three points in a quarter final. It was a very disappointing defeat against opponents we had managed to overcome twice in the championship in the last 18th months.
It had all started positively on Saturday as we led by four points to one after fifteen minutes but a sloppy Bishopstown goal rocked us and we never played with the same fluency afterwards. We were still a point to the good at half time 0-07 to 1-03 . The second half was again a dour enough affair with neither team displaying any great quality. Bishopstown battled gamely throughout and Pa Cronins frees were to be the difference as we could only score four points in total in the second half. The Bishoptown defence with one of their midfielders playing as a sweeper kept a tight grip on our forwards. We only managed two points from play in the second half and one of them was from a midfielder.
We could have no arguments in the end as the better team on the day won.
We wish Bishopstown well and congratulate them on reaching their first ever Senior Hurling county semi final.

To our own players and mentors we thank them for their efforts throughout the year. For a good number of the panel they have a chance to move on quickly as they are due to face Erins Own in the Fe 21 A Hurling East Cork final which is provisionally fixed for the 18th September.

Junior B Hurling League
Midleton 5-13 Cobh 3-09
Our Junior B hurlers had a good win over Cobh in Division 3 Section 2 of the League in Midleton on Sunday morning last. After their championship win against Killeagh they are awaiting the losers round to be completed before their next opponents are known.

Night at The Dogs
Midleton GAA will be holding a fundraiser at Youghal Greyhound Track on Friday  Friday 28th September. First prize is €1,000. Tickets costing €20 are now on sale. Your support would be much appreciated.

Midleton GAA Gym Membership
Our Gym is now open for Membership. Priority will be given to applications from existing Club Members and their immediate families, former players with Midleton GAA and Members of Midleton Ladies Football Club. Juvenile Notes

Fe 11
Midleton’s Fe 11 hurlers split into two on Saturday last 8th September. One group made the trip to Rathcormac for a blitz where they took on Slieve Rua and Sarsfields. The first game although a tough task went Midleton’s way with all of the lads playing well. The second game was a far closer affair with Midleton losing out by two scores.
Back home the other half of the Fe 11’s welcomed Erins Own to Midleton for a single but lengthened game. Midleton’s lads from the start gave it their all and in both halves proved the stronger team.
Well done to both Midleton teams and our thanks to our opposition for the games.

Fe 9
Midleton's Fe 9 hurlers travelled to Caherlag on Saturday 25th August with a very strong panel. 22 players travelled and so the panel was divided up to make two teams on 11 players. Both teams came up against two very good Erins Own teams. The games concentrated on first touch hurling, after lifting the ball a player is allowed one more bounce of the ball on the hurley then he must strike the ball, no solo running is allowed. This makes for a fast and furious hour of hurling. The Midleton hurlers acquitted themselves very well over their two games and probably came out on top in the games. Thanks to Erins Own for organizing the day-out and the players all enjoyed the drinks supplied after the games had finished. A number of photographs will be posted on the website www.midletongaa.com

The Midleton boys Fe9 were in Castlemartyr GAA grounds on Saturday 8th to play their opposites from Kiltha Og (Castlemartyr, Dungourney, Mogeely and Clonmult). This was great stuff for the 48 boys that turned up for the Hurling matches; 24 from Midleton and another 24 from Kiltha Og. These numbers allowed both clubs field two teams of 12 each.
So, on what was a beautiful morning for hurling both games started at 11am. All four hurling games served up some superb performances. The skills that all the boys in both clubs have quite obviously picked put and then displayed over the hour of hurling was evident for all spectators to see and admire and is a testament to the dedication of the small but dedicated band of trainers that put so much time in every week. At the conclusion of each team playing two games everyone returned home after a great morning’s activity.
Next up is Roanmore, which is a ground hurling blitz held every year at the Roanmore GAA club grounds in Waterford city. It’s being held next Saturday 15th of September and a bus will be leaving from Midleton GAA club. Further details will be added to our website www.midletongaa.com during the week.

Mercy Hospital Fun Walk
The Mercy Hospital fun walk takes place on the 29th of September. The participants will leave Midleton GAA at 12pm and will take a route around the town and back to Midleton GAA estimated time, approx 1 hour. Please contact any member of the juvenile committee for a sponsorship card. Cash donations can also be made on the day. Anyone that sells a minimum of €10 will receive a 'Fun Walk' souvenir watch. All proceeds from Midleton Juvenile Fun walk will go to the Mercy hospital. For more info contact Cormac Quirke on 0860783365.

Training
Training continues for all juvenile groups. Check the club website www.midletongaa.com on the juvenile team page for your child’s team training times. Team managers will update teams by text if there are changes. We would ask parents to encourage their children to practice during the week even if the weather is bad, parents can practice catching the ball indoors. Please remember to bring your €2 to training sessions. This money is vital to keep the juvenile section of the club funded.
We have re commenced the coffee morning on Saturdays. Parents with children practicing can get a free cup of coffee and admire their kids in action. Many thanks to those parents who are helping with the teas and coffees.

Midleton GAA juvenile club will have a shop with club playing and leisure wear open each Saturday morning in the clubhouse.
