Avondhu / Imokilly Junior Hurling League sponsored by Cavanaghs of Fermoy Ford Main Dealers
Midleton 3-08 Churchtown 1-12
Midleton enjoyed a two point win over Churchtown on Bank Holiday Monday afternoon in the interdivional League at midleton. Midleton proved the stronger in a low scoring first half. We led by 2-04 to 1-04 at half time. The goals came from Willie O’Brien and Tommy Wallis. Willie added a third goal in the second half as we held out for a two point win. As it is for all Clubs at the moment with college exams in full swing Midleton were short seven players and the selectors were happy to get a win. On the day Willie O’Brien, Ian Fitzpatrick and Tommy Wallis did well in attack and Ian O’Brien, Eoin Ferriter and Alan Cahill were to the fore in defence.
Team: Christy Dunlea, Alan Cahill, Colm Leahy, Liam Clohessy, Ian O’Brien, Eoin Ferriter, Shane Ryan, Tommy Wallis, Davy Hogan, Ian Fitzpatrick, Michael Keohane, Killian Hurley, John Keane, Willie O’Brien, Mark O’Keefe.

Juvenile Notes

Fe-11
Our Fe 11 squad made the short trip to Midleton CBS grounds to host Inniscarra in their final football game of the Rebel Óg league. It has proved a hard road for our lads in the football so far and there was an amount of trepidation going into this game, however our lads were up for the challenge and after a delayed start to the game both teams put their game heads on and went for it.
From the start it seemed like our lads had learned a good deal since their last game. The passing was more crisp and there was a confidence in their attacking which was missing from their last couple of footballing encounters. It took a while before our forwards got on target but when they did they took control of the game and by half time were ahead comfortably. To their credit they came out in the second half and kept up the concentration and never let the game get away from them. If anything, helped on by a strong midfield and a defence which locked out the opposition efforts they got stronger. This was Midleton’s first strong performance in the league and after the match the boost to the boys was apparent.
Well done lads and let’s look forward to a return trip to Inniscarra and the upcoming Kiltha Óg hurling league matches.
Many thanks to Inniscarra for travelling for the match.

Fe-10
On Saturday the 28th of April we welcomed both Carrigtwohill and Douglas Fe 10 Footballers to Clonmult Memorial park. Carrigtwohill arrived with 16 players and Douglas had 22 so we got some Fe 9's to fall in so we had 38 players. We had four matches going on at one time with Midleton playing both Carrig and Douglas in two games. This turned out to be a great morning with every player getting an hours football, there were some fine displays from all sides with great fielding, tackling and scoring. Thanks to Carrig and Douglas for coming and also all the parents for the support and help with the coffee morning.

Training
Training is back in full swing for Juvenile teams. Check the club website www.midletongaa.com on the juvenile team page for your child’s team training times. We would ask parents to encourage their children to practice during the week even if the weather is bad, parents can practice catching the ball indoors. Please remember to bring your €2 to training sessions. This money is vital to keep the juvenile section of the club funded.
We have re commenced the coffee morning on Saturdays. Parents with children practicing can get a free cup of coffee and admire their kids in action. Many thanks to those parents who are helping with the teas and coffees.

Club Gear
Midleton GAA juvenile club will have a shop with club playing and leisure wear open on the first Saturday of each month. This will commence with the indoor training sessions in the Community Centre and then in the Club Pavilion once outdoor training re-commences.
