IN THE RED OF CORK

The Cork senior hurlers were in Wexford on Saturday, where Tommy started at midfield and Conor and Brion were amongst the subs as they had big win over the home side. They are now finished their league campaign and all eyes will now be on the opening round of the Munster SHC against Waterford in Walsh Park on April 21.

BIG HURLING LEAGUE WEEKEND

It's another big hurling league weekend ahead of our adult teams.

First up are our intermediates who will take on Aghabullogue in a repeat of last year's Co. IHC final in the Co. Hurling League Division 5 at home in Clonmult Memorial Park on Saturday at 3pm.

Next up were supposed to be the Junior C hurlers in the East Cork Junior Hurling League Division 3 versus Russell Rovers but this game is now postponed.

The U14s are playing after the IHL game at 5pm against Blarney (see below in the juvenile section for details).

There's a double header in Clonmult Memorial Park on Sunday and both games are Midleton versus Bride Rovers.

At 11.30am our senior hurlers take on the Bridesiders in the Co. Hurling League division two and then at 1.15pm our Junior A team take on Bride Rovers in the East Cork Junior Hurling League Division 2.

Best of luck to all our players and management teams over the weekend and please support if you can at all.

ST. PATRICK'S DAY PARADE

We had a huge turnout for the returning Midleton St. Patrick's Day parade on Sunday which saw huge crowds line the two sides of the main street from top to bottom, which was great to see and thankfully the weather played ball too.

Thanks to all our young players, coaches and parents who reprsented our club superbly and a great evening was had back in the club, where Pat O'Brien and his staff once again played a blinder as did the excellent DJ Mickey.

JUVENILES

FÉ18S

Midleton 0-13 Inniscarra 0-8

Saturday afternoon saw our minors play their first hurling match of 2024.

Clonmult Memorial Park was in great condition and the minor management appreciates the efforts of the facilities committee in getting the match played.

The overhead conditions rapidly deteriorated once the match started. Both teams deserve great credit for performing in driving wind and rain. Scarra were first off the mark playing with the wind. A very attrional thirty minutes ended Midleton 0-5 Inniscarra 0-6.

Thomas Dunlea, Eoghan Fraser and Matthew Mc Sweeney were picking up plentiful possession, up front Cian Stack was in super form while Conor Morley posed a threat throughout. The second-half saw both teams put in another tremendous effort as much against the weather as each other. The Magpies, pushed on for a good win. Final score Midleton 0-13 Inniscarra 0-8.

MIDLETON:  Conor Finn, Adam O'Connor, Fionn Kelly, Thomas Dunlea, Matthew McSweeney, Carthaigh Cronin, Josh Hogan, Luca Brodkorb, Eoghan Fraser (Capt. 0-1), Sean McSharry, James Mc Sweeney (0-5), Daragh Egan (0-1), Daniel Garde (0-1), Conor Morley (0-2), Cian Stack (0-3), Callum O Brien, Odhran Rabbitte, Paddy Walsh, Odhran Dennigen.

CAMOGIE

FÉ12S

On bank holiday Monday March 18th, two Fé12 teams travelled to Musgrave Park to play Erin's Own in their first challenge matches of the season.

Each Midleton team played one match each against two equally skillful Erins Own teams and both games were very competitive. Our girls showed great skill and resilience while getting used to the larger pitch size and longer game time.

Thank you to all the girls, parents and coaches who travelled to the match and particularly to the six U-11 girls who joined us for the morning and gave an excellent performance!

LADIES FOOTBALL

U-21 COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP SEMI-FINAL

Our championship campaign started with a quarter-final fixture away to St Michael’s. In very blustery conditions the girls battled hard and put in a great effort. We came away with a great victory which now sees us with a home semi-final against Ilen Rovers on Easter Sunday.

U-13S

Our U-13 girls got their league campaign off to a winning start with a a home victory over St Nicks. A great team effort on the day. Well done. These girls are on the road again next weekend with an away fixture to Cobh. Best of luck.
