Midleton Ladies Football News

U16 EAST CORK LEAGUE
Our U16 girls took on a very strong Bride Rvs team in Round 2 of the East Cork League, played to day Sunday in Midleton Collage Community Pitch. We had 15 players and Bride Rvs had 12 so we fielded 12 on 12. The very heavy morning rain made underfoot conditions very heavy and slippery espically around the top goal. Playing against a strong wind we struggled to get the ball up the field in the first half. The girls did their best against the conditions and did very well to pull two goals back against a very tight Bride Rvs defence. Score at half-time left us trailing by 4-7 to 2-1 with a small mountain to climb.
The second half was a real team effort with our girls outscoring our opponents. A very positive feature of our game was the quality of the scores the girls took.  Scoring Cracking goals and sublime points at the end of great link up play, we attacked the Bride Rvs goal and started reducing the score difference. Two late goals for Bride Rvs against the run of play towards the end of the second half killed off our challenge, but onwards and upwards, the girls were great, and as the score line shows was a great game of free flowing football served up by two very competitive, sporting teams. Well done to all. Full-time score Bride Rovers 6-8 to Midleton’s 3-9 (1-8 in 2nd Half)
Scorers for Midleton:  Molly Beausang 0-3, Orla Fleming 2-1, Charley Moore 0-1, Sarah Murphy 1-3, Roisín O'Callaghan 0-1
Panel: Molly Beausang, Rhea Buckley, Dionne Carroll, Deirdre Corcoran, Courtney English, Orla Fleming, Aoife Franklin, Charley Moore, Gillian Mulcahy, Sarah Murphy, Roisin O'Callaghan, Laura O'Leary, Lizzie Phiri, Abby Quirke, Ellen Ryan
