Juvenile
Fé8
On Saturday afternoon last we made the trip back up to Pairc Uí Chaoimh for the latest Rebel Og organised monster blitz on the 4G pitch. On what was a fantastic day for hurling we had 24 young magpies who gave their all over the hour. Broken into teams of 8 each team played 3 matches against various opposition that included Valley Rovers, Bandon, Watergrasshill and Brian Dillion’s. With Cul Camps just over we took a break from training this week and we will back hurling training at 7pm in the Cricket pitch this coming Thursday and in the GAA from 10am Saturday morning.
Cúl Camp July 2019
This week Midleton Gaa held the first of its two Cúl Camps. On Monday morning two hundred and forty children burst through the gates of the club full of energy and eager to get going. Football and Hurling skills, fun and games, singing and dancing (by some ! ) was on the agenda for the week. Well done to all the boys and girls for participating. We also had a special guest visit us on Friday. Cork Player Niall O Leary answered questions and signed a lot of hurleys, helmets and jerseys. As always events like these need a lot of help and organisation to run. Many Thanks to all our Coaches and coaches assistants. To Marcella Scanlon, Grainne O Brien, Mary Quinn and Mairead Beausang for their help throughout the week. Thank you to the FAS staff who were on hand every morning to set up our station outside the dressing rooms. Also thanks to Paudie O Brien, Sean Crowley and Tracy Saunderson. Our next camp is on August 6-9th 10am to 2pm.
Ladies Football
Minor A East Cork League
Bride Rovers travelled to Midleton last Sat night to take on our girls in the first round of the Minor A league that always starts after the leaving cert at the same time when the same girls take their holidays. This is the first time that this group of Midleton girls has played in the top grade of any competition and they did exceptionally well.
Missing some key minor players due to the holiday season we had to rely on our U14's and U16's to take on the work load for this one and they didn't disappoint. The final score of Bride Rovers 6:7 to our 3:6 doesn't reflect the work rate of our girls. We had 17 players on the night and each and every one contributed. This was a free flowing end to end football game and a very enjoyable game to watch. The main difference was when we attacked we got points and when Bride Rvs attacked they got goals. We had goal chances but were denied by the excellent goalkeeping by Brides Keeper. The most encouraging thing about midleton's play was their work rate and the link up play between the backs and the forwards. Only 2 scores separated the sides at half time Midleton 2-3 Bride Rovers 4:3. Both teams were very even and in the end we only lost by 4 scores. Next up is an away game V Erins Own on Tuesday 16th July. Very well done girls.
Team: Diana Perkinks-Oteh, Amy O'Neill, Megan Kelly, Ellen Ryan, Chloe Garde, Denise Collins, Caoimhe Cronin, Aisling McCarthy, Ella Quirke, Orla Evans (2-0), Rayanna Power (0-2), Sadhbh Beausang (1-3), Grace O'Leary. Emma O'Sullivan, Rachel Quirke (0-1), Sophie McCarthy, Kate Obersby
Upcoming Fixtures:
Monday 08 July in Midleton GAA; County Junior Championship Round 1 Midleton V Funcheon Gaels @ 20:00
Tuesday 16th July Away to Erins Own in Round 2 of Minor A League
Thursday 18th July in Fermoy; Midleton V Fermoy in East Cork Junior A Semi final.

Camogie
Our u14 and u15 girls represented our club very well this past week. Yvonne Abernethy captained Cork U15’s in their victory against Galway last Saturday. 5-10 to 2-05.
The U15’s then played Wexford and came out on top in a physical battle.
We wish Lucy Wallace and her team mates the very best of luck from all at Midleton Camogie Club. The girls go in search of a Munster Minor title starting this week vs Tipperary in the Ragg, Tipperary . Up the Rebels!
Congratulations to Jill Connaughton who played with the Cork U14 panel over the weekend in a blitz in Dublin. Cork played Laois first which they lost and Derry next which resulted in a win putting them through to the quarter final against Galway which they also won unfortunately their winning streak came to an end as they lost by the narrowest of margins to Kilkenny in the Semi final.
Ruthi Hennessy also represented Cork U14 today in the Dublin Blitz narrowly losing out to Laois by a point in score difference for a place in the final. Well done to all involved. We are so proud of all our girls who train so hard and give it their all!
Please note there will be no camogie training for the month of July for our U6/7/8 girls to allow for Summer holidays for both children & coaches. We will train again on Friday 2nd August. Enjoy the break. Coaches will be in touch with parents nearer the time.
We played Cobh in the under 12s c league during the week in Cobh. It was a truly outstanding performance from a great bunch of girls the skill they displayed on the pitch was exceptional there was brilliant fielding of the ball, fantastic team play, excellent support play, blocking and hooking from all the girls .Both sides played a great game. Thanks to Cobh for hosting and all the parents who came along and supported our team.
Healthy Club / Midleton GAA for All
