Camogie
On Sunday last 15th December we held our Camogie Christmas Social at Midleton GAA in the main hall. Every group was represented on the night from our U6 girls to our Minor Team. It was fantastic to see such a great turn out by all who came along to celebrate the fantastic year of Camogie our girls have had. We even had a visit from, the great man himself, Santa who had plenty of chats with our girls ahead of his visit on Christmas Eve. Now we will take a well-deserved break until the New Year. We would like to take this opportunity to wish our players, members and their families a very Happy Christmas and Prosperous New Year.
We would like to thank Pat O’Brien who kindly wrote the poem below for our U14 County. Winners back in November. We are so proud of all our girls achievements throughout the year but Pat went the extra mile for us recently and penned the following:
County Camogie League Champions 2019
By Pat O’Brien
It was a cold winters day, on the second of November
When our under 14 team won, using plenty of timber
Early pressure soon mounted, as we played in our own patch
Rachel Ryan eased all that, with the first goal of the match
That was soon followed with a score from a Quirke called Kelly
Midleton now showing they had fire in their belly
Aoife and Saoirse would then add to their tally
It soon became obvious this team was going to rally
Lora Dineen's two goals made Blackrock drop their head
We went in at half time a whopping eleven points ahead
Lora couldn’t be stopped with another point after the break
But the second goal from Rachel Ryan was the icing on the cake
Jill Connaughton in goal could only be described as a colossus
She is one of the many reasons this team had no losses
Although I mentioned a few individuals and biased I may seem
This is not about any one person but totally about the team
Ladies Football
After a tremendous year for our Club we are all now enjoying a well-earned break. The Committee would like to wish all our Players, Coaches and their Families a very Happy Christmas and Best Wishes for the New Year. We look forward to seeing you all in 2020.

Condolences
Billy Grandon
The sad passing of Billy Grandon last weekend severed a link with Midleton stretching back nearly 90 years. Billy was a great supporter of all things Midleton especially the GAA club and was a regular attendee at Midleton games wherever they were played. Although he lived in the city most of his working life he was a regular visitor to his native town and he liked nothing better than walking the main street and renewing acquaintances with old friends. He would have been proud as punch when his coffin carried the black and white flag on his final journey through Blackpool last Tuesday on the way to his burial in Kilcully cemetery. To Dermot, his son, and the O’Brien and Horgan families of St Mary’s terrace we offer our sincere condolences. Ar dheis Dé go raibh ainm dilís.
