Our senior hurlers made it five wins from five games in the Red FM County Hurling League Division 2 on Thursday night last when they overcame a spirited Killeagh side in Clonmult Memorial Park.

After opening points from Luke O'Farrell and Sam Quirke, Killeagh quickly levelled affairs before Paul Connaughton struck for the game's opening goal in the fifth minute after a lovely pass from Alex Quirke. Paul added a point from play soon after and two Cormac Beausang frees saw us lead by 1-5 to 0-2 by 13 minutes.

Killeagh struck back but points from play from Luke O'Farrell, Eoin Moloney and Cormac Beausang (who was forced off injured shortly after), saw us lead by 1-8 to 0-6 after 25 minutes.

Darragh McCarthy, Paul Haughney and Luke O'Farrell struck the final three points of the opening half and we led at the break on a score of 1-11 to 0-6.

We also struck the opening four white flags of the second period through Luke O'Farrell (2), Sam Quirke and Eoin Moloney to see us lead by 1-15 to 0-6 after 36 minutes.

Killeagh struck back with five of the next six points (Kian Farmer with ours) and then after a Sam Quirke point Killeagh struck for a goal and bwith seven minutes to go our lead was down to five (1-19 to 1-14)

Shortly after Pa White struck for our second green flag to put us back in control and further points from Alex Quirke (2), Eoin Moloney and Kian Farmer saw us run out nine point winners at Brian Murphy's final whistle.

A special mention must go to leaving cert student, Zach Smith, who made his senior debut between the posts and had an excellent game.

Next up for the seniors is a trip to Ballinspittle on Thursday next, May 16, to take on Courcey Rovers at 7.30pm.

ARGIDEEN RANGERS 2-22 MIDLETON 2-24

On Friday night last our intermediates were on the road again. This time it was off to Belgooly to take on Argideen Rangers. This was a very high scoring and quality game and at the halfway stage the sides were all square at 0-15 each.

There was nothing in it all the way to the dying seconds but as the referee prepared to call a hal to proceedings we trailed by a point when we were awarded a late late penalty and Aaron Mulcahy was the coolest man in the place as he lashed the ball to the net for the match winning goal. Well done lads on a great win.

Next up is a local derby with Castlemartyr away on Saturday week (May 18) at 3pm

A very comprehensive performance from first minute to last by the lads on Saturday night. In this game we blooded five minors, their first feel of adult hurling and they were terrific, contributing 1-8.

Some very impressive passages of play and point taking by the team. We have two more league games to play and in with a strong chance of making the league final.

EAST CORK JUNIOR HURLING LEAGUE DIVISION 3

CASTLELYONS 1-19 MIDLETON 4-22

A great win on a splendid pitch in Castlelyons on Tuesday evening. We didn't start well and found ourselves eight points down but once we settled we got some fine scores and led at the break by 1-11 to 1-9.

Two quick goals at the start of the second-half helped us on our way to a very good win. Six minors made their Junior A debuts, they were a breath of fresh air and it really rubbed off on the rest of the panel. There were some great passages of play, with 4-20 coming from play.

CAMOGIE

UNDER 12S

Our Fé12 Midleton (Black team) played Bride Rovers last Sunday. A tough battle against a very strong Bride Rovers side had us chasing the game from the off. The girls battled hard and showed a huge improvement in the second-half. It was not our day however and Bride Rovers came away with a win. well done girls

UNDER 13S

Our U-13s played their second game in the Imokilly Bronze League against Castlelyons over the Bank Holiday weekend under warm sunshine. All the girls battled really hard with great skills and commitment shown. They came up short in the end however they are looking forward to their final league game in a few weeks against Aghada with all to play for.

CORK U-16 A PANEL

Huge congratulations to Roisín McManus who was part of the Under 16A Cork Panel who defeated Galway last Sunday on a scoreline of 1-12 to 1-8.

LADIES FOOTBALL

FÉILE 2024

A fantastic display of football from all the girls on the day. We are so proud of them all. Every single girl played a part in getting us through to a great final. We had brilliant wins over Whitescross and Cloyne. There was absolutely nothing that separated us in the Cup final either. You kept going throughout. It was the slimmest of victories for the opposition. To lose by a point is hard to swallow, a loss so close in extra-time, you should all be so proud of yourselves for representing your club with distinction. Well done to our captains on the day Olivia, Molly and Sarah.

Our Féile journey is not over…… the good news is that the top two finishers in East Cork Féile have qualified for a county Féile. It will be held in early June. More definite details will follow as soon as we hear more. Big thanks to the U-14 and U-13 players who made a huge impact on our team today. Magpies Abú
