Our senior hurlers played out a very entertaining County Hurling League Division 2 game with Eire Og in Clonumlt Memorial Park on Friday night last.

Further points followed from Pa White and Cormac Beausang before we finished the half with our second goal, this time from Paul Connaughton to see us lead at the break by 2-9 to 0-8.

Eire Og hit the first three points afer the restart to cut the deficit before points from Cormac Beausang and Luke O'Farrell steadied the ship Pa White, Ross O'Regan and Paul Haughney kept us in front as Eire Og threw eveything at us and two final points in the game from Pa White and Ross O'Regan saw us finish the tie in front by three on a score of 2-16 to 0-19.

Scorers: Paul Connaughton 1-4, Ross O'Regan 1-2, Cormac Beausang 0-4 (0-3 f), Pa White 0-3, Sam Quirke, Luke O’Farrell, Paul Haughney 0-1 each.

CAMOGIE

UNDER 8S

Our under 8s played out a great blitz in fabulous sunshine in Watergrasshill on Saturday last, against the home side and St. Catherines. Well doe girls on a brilliant showing in all your games.

UNDER 11S

Our U11s had their first Imokilly blitz of the season last Saturday morning. In glorious sunshine we were away to Castlemartyr and Bride Rovers. Two tough sides but the girls played some great camogie with all the skills we’ve been practicing in training brought into their game. Well done girls.

UNDER 12s

Midleton U12 (White team) played away in Kildorrery in the second of their matches in Phase 1 of the U12 league on Sunday April 21st. Kildorrery were a very strong team but our Midleton girls showed great teamwork and determination and certainly did not make it easy for Kildorrery by blocking and tackling and putting our opponents under pressure. A special word of thanks to the four U11s Hannah, Sophia, Amber and Fiadh who travelled to Kildorrery also and were a great addition to the team. Our last match in Phase 1 is due to be played next Sunday morning April 28th in Park South versus Erins Own at 12pm. This is our first home game of the League so all support is greatly appreciated.

Under beautiful blue skies the Under 12 (Black team) travelled to Tracton for their second game of the season. The girls fought hard to win the game against a strong Tracton side. Well done to the girls and coaches.

UNDER 15S

Our U15s were in Féile action in Inniscarra on Saturday afternoon. The girls gave it everything and played really well in the three games but unfortunately came up short in the end. A super group of girls, they should hold their heads high. Congratulations to our captains on the day, Aoise, Olivia and Lily.

Our U15s played Sars in Park South in the imokilly league on Tuesday evening. Our girls played very well in a competitive game with Sars getting the win at the end. Congratulations to Kerrie who captained the team and had a great game in midfield.

JUNIORS

Lilly Grant League  - Friday April 19th V Courcey Rovers in Ballinspittle

Midleton 3-10 Courcey Rovers 2-10

Our Lilly Grant team travelled to sunny Ballinspittle on Friday night and after a superb performance came away with a deserved win. A slow start saw us under pressure for the first 10 minutes and we trailed 1-2 to no score. But a couple of great points from play by Rachel Ryan and also from frees saw us back in contention at the 20 minute mark.

A fine score from Sorcha Cronin from play and then a great finish by Jade Fitzgerald on the stroke of halftime saw us trailing by just two points at the break 2-7 to 1-8.

The girls were really starting to play now and a fantastic high catch and bullet shot to the roof of the net by Tia Wallace saw us take the lead for the first time midway through the second-half, a lead we would never relinquish. Another great finish  by Jade Fitzgerald saw us into a five point lead and even though Courceys closed the gap to three points  and pushed hard for an equalising goal our defence and goalkeeper Kate Griffin stood tall and we held on for the win.

A really great performance by all who travelled. Kate Saunderson  and Cara Foley were rock solid in the full back line. Meghan Wallis was relentless in the half back line and with Sorcha Cronin, Lucy Kenneally and Hannah Power working their socks off between the two 45s. Our forwards capitalised, led by the outstanding Rachel Ryan who scored eight points, Tia Wallace with her wonder goal and two great finishes by Jade Fitzgerald.

Next up is Sliabh Rua on the 26th and another performance like this  would put us in the mix for a semi-final spot .

MIDLETON: Kate Griffin, Roisin O'Callaghan, Kate Saunderson, Cara Foley, Caoimhe Cronin (Capt), Muireann Ni Chonchubhair, Meghan Wallis, Sorcha Cronin(0-1), Lucy Kenneally (0-1), Ciara McGrath, Rachel Ryan (0-8 3fs), Hannah Power, Rayanna Power, Jade Fitzgerald (2-0), Tia Wallace (1-0), Lilly Kelly.

PREMIER JUNIOR LEAGUE

Midleton 2-18 Cobh 1-4

Our Premier Junior Team played their first home league game last Monday against Cobh. An impressive performance saw us run out easy winners.

Jodie Keegan O'Connell led the scoring with a superb performance delivering 1-5 from play. Abbie Foley wasn't too far behind with 0-7 (3fs). Lucy Wallis chipped in with a great goal and Sadhbh Beausang was also in scoring form (0-3). Our defence was superb all through with Leah Hogan, Pippa Hennessy and Laura Goulding to the fore, ably assisted by Megan Kelly, Aoife Fitzgerald and Meghan Wallis. Two league wins from two so we can look forward with great confidence to our next game against  Milford at home.

Our U-12 White Team made up of U-11 and U-12 players played their first match on Wednesday night against a strong Youghal side. High scoring match with lots of goals and points from both sides. The girls played really well with Youghal just getting a win in the end. A fantastic performance from this group.
