Camogie
It has been a week jam packed with matches, we started off with our U11’s who were thrilled to be back in action on Sunday 12th July on home ground in Midleton GAA . We battled against a strong St Catherine’s team. All 17 girls gave their all! It’s great to be back .Well Done to all of you and your coaches , all your hard work during lockdown paid off and was obvious on the pitch last weekend.
We travelled to Ahanvine, Ballymacoda on Monday last 13th July where our Minor Team took on Fr O’Neills in a tough battle . Great game and fantastic start to our Minor Campaign which will begin shortly with our first opponents being Tracton . Your head coaches will be in touch with more details and a Teamer will be issued.
Our second outing was to Cobh GAA on Wednesday 15th with our U16 team! Our first match of the year and what a match it was! Well done girls! Great team work.
These girls were on the road again a few days later for their third match in a week as we played Inniscarra in Ballyanley in what turned out to be a cracker of a game, from fantastic goal saving to some great scoring and not to leave out our defenders who never left us down once. Each & every girl gave it their all ! Fantastic work rate girls ! Well done to all involved! Thank you to Inniscarra for hosting us and giving us a brilliant hour of Camogie.
Also thank you to Fr O’Neills and Cobh for hosting us at the start of the week and which has allowed us to get much needed pitch time in before the championship starts.
There was a combined effort on Saturday morning from our u8/u9 & u 10 groups! We played St. Catherines away to Ballynoe. It was a great mornings camogie and great to see all the girls enjoying the matches and a proud moment for some girls who wore the magpie jersey for the first time. Well done to all the players and their dedicated coaches. Thanks to St. Catherines for hosting and all the families for support. Up the magpies.
Our weekend of Sport had to come to and end and who better to finish it than our U13/14 group who played Aghada Camogie away in a very competitive challenge game. With this being our first match back we were delighted to see our girls put on a great display of skills against a very good Aghada team. Many thanks to Aghada for hosting us and we wish them all the best for the rest of the season.

Safeguarding & Vetting
As you will know from the notes in recent weeks coaches and all those of us involved with teams where players are under 18 years of age were reminded to update all mandatory requirements as per the national vetting Bureau Act 2012-2016 and the Children First Legislation 2015.
Phenomenal effort has been made and I would like to thank all those who responded promptly, your cooperation is much appreciated. Further correspondence was sent this week to those outstanding. Once complete please forward evidence to Ingrid by the 21st July on 087 6374748 or childrensofficermidletongaa@gmail.com. I can also be contacted on this number if anyone had any questions or needs assistance. Many thanks to all.
Fortunately, many people were in a position to renew safeguarding and vetting online however a small number of new coaches will need to do a face to face Safeguarding workshop. For those coaches please save the date of Thursday 30th of July at 7pm for this workshop in the club. There are very strict guidelines associated with facilitating such a workshop under the current conditions. Ingrid will be in touch with all those who require this arrangement in the coming days. Only those booked in will be able to participate on the night. There will not be another opportunity to attend one of these workshops until the Autumn.
Condolences
Midleton GAA club would like to offer our sympathies to Sinead, Isabelle, Ava and James O’Connor on the sad passing of Kieran O’Connor. We would also like to extend our heartfelt sympathies to his extended family, to Aghada GAA and to his many friends. Kieran, a proud Aghada and Cork man, was an inspiration not only through his on-field exploits but also in the courage and spirit he demonstrated, as he battled his illness, over the past few years.
