Sunday 12 Sep 2010 Senior - Hurling Championship

Glen Rovers (2-13) vs Midleton GAA (0-19)

Pairc Ui Chaoimh, 16:00PM

Senior Hurlers face a replay.
Midleton Senior Hurlers played out an exciting draw with Glen Rovers in the quarter final of the championship on Sunday last in Pairc Ui Chaoimh. Both teams will be happy to get a second chance. As expected Patrick Horgan provided the main threat and his two first half goals ensured that the Glen had a flattering three point lead at half time, 2-07 to 0-10. Midleton in the first appeared to be the team that played the better hurling and had a far greater number of forwards who posed a real threat. Midleton with the aid of the wind fought their way back to parity and looked in strong position when the Glen were reduced to fourteen players with twenty minutes left. However as i often the case the sending off seemed to galvanise the remaining fourteen Glen players and they went three points up. Midleton again dug deep and got the scores to level the game. Patrick Horgan had two chances from frees to win it for the Glen but to the great relief of all Midleton supporters he missed on both occasions. The Magpies again played well and a lot of our younger players enhanced their reputations. The replay is fixed for Sunday 26th. Though we played well on the day Midleton will have to really try to improve their performance yet again. The Glen raised their game when they came under pressure in the last quarter and chances are the replay will go down to the wire as well. Once again we must congratulate all involved on their performance and the pride that they give to all Club supporters. Let us hope there is more to come
