Last Friday night, March 5th a Retirement Party was held for Kay Barry on the occasion of her retirement as Bar Manager after distinguished service over many years to the Club. The esteem in which Kay is held was evident by the large attendance. There were a number of presentations to Kay on the night. Several speakers paid tribute to Kay and it was great to see so many of the various organisations that Kay has dealt with over the years present to honour her. She wish Kay and her family well in the futre. (Photos in main Club Photo page)

Senior Hurling
Our Senior Hurlers open their Red FM sponsored League campaign this Friday March 12th. We make the short journey to Carrigtwohill for a 7.30 pm throw in under lights. Preparations have been ongoing since early in the new year. In previous years we have made a slow start to the League so a win on Friday night would be most welcome.

Fe 15 A Football Championship Final
Midleton 2-08 Killeagh Ita’s 1-06 (Photos in Juvinile page)
This game was played in Pilmore in near perfect conditions on Sunday last. We played quite well throughout. With some great defending and counterattacking in the first half against a very strong wind we were level at halftime 2.02 v 1-05.
In the second half with the aid of the elements it took us sometime to get into our stride but a number of pointed frees from Conan Finnegan sealed the victory in the end on a scoreline of 2-08 v 1-06.
Our captain Eanna O Brien accepted the trophy after the game on behalf of the panel , well done to all the lads for the great effort.
Team: Josh Deady, Eamon Cleary, Billy O Shea, Gavin Bagnell, Sean O Farrell, Aaron Mc Evoy,Luke Morrissey, Patrice Tschmanga, Padraic Nagle, Darren Quirke, Conan Finnegan, Eanna O Brien, Ian Aher, Michael Abernethy and Robert Williams.

Fe 12
Our Fe-12s were back in action on Sat March 6th last when we travelled to Shanagarry to take on Russell Rovers in a football challenge game. On the morning we played with 16 v 17 for Rovers so as all present played the full game with no standing on the line as the day was very cold. Following an excellent work out and with players playing in different positions in each half we won by 5pts 2-7 to 1-5. Our panel on the day was Conor Evans (capt), Christopher Power (1-1), Shane O’Brien, Temitayo Abdullah, Conor O’Neill, Dylan Cahalane, Jordan Roche, Kevin Mulcahy (0-1), Christopher Shanahan, Christian Daly (0-2), David Mulcahy (1-1), Eoin Moloney (0-1), PJ Fitzgearld, Ronan O’Donovan, Ryan McConville and Kelvin Hickey. We continue to train on Wed nights in the Midleton College Hockey field 6pm to 7pm and Sat Mornings in Fr Murphy’s place 10am to 11am .
Fé 10 Hurling,
Midleton ‘2’ v Youghal, Saturday 27 February 2010.
Our U-10 Hurlers travelled to Youghal on Saturday and took part in a three-team blitz which also included Kiltha Óg. We travelled with 24 players, which we divided into 2 teams of 12. Midleton ‘1’ played two 30 minute games against Youghal ‘1’ and Kiltha Óg, these games were hard fought and some good hurling by all teams and there was not much to separate all teams. Midleton were able to come out in front of both Youghal 1 and Kiltha Og in 2 entertaining games, while Midleton ‘2’ played one 60 minute game against Youghal ‘2’. This 60 minute game was 12-a-side, so all 12 players were able to play the entire game, making life easy for the coaches. We took the opportunity to try all of the players in different positions. All of the lads played for some period in both defence and attack, half of them managing to get on the score sheet, we even had three different goalkeepers over the duration of the game. All 12 contributed equally to a fine team performance, which resulted in victory over a talented Youghal ‘2’ side. With their medals around their necks and their bellies full of treats (courtesy to our generous hosts) all the lads left happy making for a pleasant journey home. Thanks to all those players and family members who made the journey and we look forward to many more successful outings during the remainder of the season.
