U16 Midleton v Watergrasshill-East Cork League

On a sunny fresh spring Sunday afternoon our U16 girls travelled to the Watergrasshill to take on the local girls in round 2 of the u16 East Cork league. We had 16 girls available for this game and we needed every one of them. We attacked from the start, and the girls worked their socks off taking the game to WGH. Playing against the wind we registered the first score and then went 3:1 down, but finished the half strong leading by a point-3 points to 4.

The second half was much the same as the first with our girls playing with great determination and team work. The girls raised their game and their support play was fantastic. Great team win.

Final score Midleton 5-10 Watergrasshill 0:3

Team: Diana Perkins-Oteh, Leah Hogan, Denise Collins, Megan Kelly, Selena Hernandez O'Riordan, Caoimhe Cronin, Jodie Keegan O'Connell (0-1), Rachel Quirke (0-3), Aoife Fitzgerald (1-1), Mischa Daly Harkin (0-2), Ella Quirke, Amy Murray (2-0), Neasa Ní Bhriain, Grainne Finn (1-0), Aisling McCarthy (1-1), Vivienne Gleeson (0-2)

Safeguarding 1

On Thursday 7th Feb a large group of committed coaches across the codes took part in a three hour mandatory Safeguarding 1 workshop. The overall objective of the workshop is so that our players can benefit from and participate in our Gaelic Games in a safe and enjoyable environment where our Games are conducted in a spirit of Fair Play. This workshop was the first in Midleton to include coaches who will be working with our new ‘Gaa for all’ strand of the club. The aim of this programme is complete inclusiveness and will give opportunities to all young people to try out an adapted hurling and football programme in a non competitive environment. All coaches participated enthusiastically and were certified on the night. If you are coaching in Midleton in any of the codes and need to complete this course please contact Ingrid on 087 6374748 or childrensofficermidletongaa@gmail.com. Depending on numbers we may run this course again in the near future. E Vetting is also a mandatory part of coaching with any sporting organisation and a number of people are currently in the system. Again if there are any difficulties please contact Ingrid on the above number.

Cork Sports Workshop

Staying Fit for the future started on Thursday January 31st. It will continue at Midleton Gaa Club every Thursday Morning at 9.30am for the next two months.
