Midleton Hurling & Football, Ladies Football & Camogie Club NEWS

18 November, 2018

Fe 21 Hurling
On Sunday afternoon last we had a very impressive win over Na Piarsaigh in Pairc Ui Rinn in the Championship quarter final by 2-20 to 1-09. Playing with the aid of a strong wind we got off to a great start with an early goal from Garan Manley, we followed this up with an array of some delightful points and led at the break by 1-14 to 1-04. The second half was even for the most until Garan got his and our second goal to seal the win. This put us in to a semi final against either Douglas or Shandrum on Saturday the 1st of December in Pairc Ui Rinn.
Well done to the players and management.
Team: Alan Power, Adam Daly, Sean O’Sullivan, Seanaidh Smyth, Eoin Moloney, Sean O’Leary Hayes, Cathal Gunning, Cormac Beausang (0-03), Kevin Finn (0-01), Kian Farmer (0-04), Sean O’Meara (0-01), Tommy O’Connell (0-04, 3 frees), Padraig O’Brien, Ross O’Regan & Garan Manley (2-07, 4 frees).

Condolences
The Club Executive would like to express their sympathy’s to the Quirke family of Dwyer Rd on the recent passing of Mossie, a former player and Juvenile Club Chairman.

Camogie (Camógaíochta)
U16:  Our season came to an end on Saturday afternoon in Kilbree when we met  the hosts  for the quarter final of the league. We were short a few players on the day and our very young side proved no match for a very strong Kilbree side.  Our girls can be very proud of their efforts, they never gave up, battling till the final whistle in difficult conditions. These girls will be back next year stronger and vying for honours, we now take a break for a few weeks and look forward to the 2019 season.

End of year Social: Our end of Year Social will take place on November 25th  5.30pm - 7.30pm in the Midleton GAA Club, all players and their families are invited to attend and celebrate another great year of camogie.

AGM - Midleton Camogie Club AGM has been rescheduled for Thursday 22nd November at 7.30pm in Midleton GAA Club all welcome.

Ladies Football (Peil na mBan)
We would like to express our sincere condolences to our Club players Amy, Abby, Rachel, Kelly, Nicole, Club PRO Coleman and all the Quirke Family on the passing of Mossie Quirke. Mossie was a great stalwart of Midleton Gaa Club. May He Rest In Peace.

East Cork Minor Final- Midleton v Youghal. - Our girls had very hard luck this Sunday evening in sunny and windy Youghal in the East Cork Minor C Football final against a strong Youghal team. Full time score Midleton 3-08 v Youghal 4-11. The most disappointing aspect of this game was that we led by 10 points at half time. 3:5 to 4 points, but we were playing with a strong wind. The girls gave it their all as they have been doing all year. We have no complaints on that front. They are a brilliant group of girls.
It was just one of those days where nothing went right for us in the second half. We had a great year, but it wasn’t to be today  so congrats to Youghal on their win. On a positive note the U16 girls will learn a lot from this as we prepare for East Cork final to be played in the next two weeks. Well done on getting to the final girls, a great achievement in its self.
