Gaelic Sunday
Sunday last the 4th marked the 100th Anniversary when 54,000 people played and over 100,000 watched our games on a day of National defiance. On the 4th of August 1918 the GAA stood up in defiance against the British Empire in a peaceful protest.
To mark the occasion the GAA encouraged clubs to host various events, many thanks to Padraig O’Brien who organised a ground hurling blitz between our Fe16 and Minors.

Juvenile

Fe 13
On Sunday the 29th the Fe13 had an early start traveling by bus to Dublin to take on Na Fianna in a challenge game before they made their way to Croke Park to watch the Cork limerick semi final. Na Fianna who are based in Glasnevin kindly left us use their parking facilities which is a fifteen minute walk from Croke Park.
The hosts put out an exceptional strong team and were well up for the challenge. The conditions were wet and slippery making it difficult for our forwards we were behind at halftime on a score line of 3-04 to 3-05. The magpies came out fighting in the second half and the full forward line all scored ending in a four point win for the magpies. This was a great game of hurling and hopefully this experience will stand to our lads. A huge thanks to Na Fianna club who were very accommodating on the day and hopefully our connection to this club will continue in years to come.
Many thanks to all the mentors and parents whom travelled with the lads. Unfortunately the game in Croker did not give us the result we were looking for but the bus journey home and the world record number of McDonald’s quarter pounders eaten by our lads seem to ease the pain of the loss in Croke Park. A great day out had by all. We return to training this week on Wednesday evening and also Saturday morning looking forward to seeing all the lads back. Panel Tiernan O’ Connell, Rory Lester, Zach Smith, Darragh Aherne, Darragh Fitzgerald, Tadgh Bohane, Alex Moloney, Tadgh O Leary Hayes, Darragh Scanlon, Adam Collins, Eoin Higgins, Oscar Brennan, Sean Cronin, Andrew Burke, Conor Williams, Cian Lambe, Evan Mc Grath & Thomas O’Connor.

Cul Camp
Tuesday 7th To Friday 10th August 2018
Following on from the success of our first Cul Camp in July where over 200 boys and girls participated it’s now time for our second camp. This camp was introduced last year to cater for the growing demand in the town for young people who want to play Gaelic games.

What to Bring to Camp: Packed Lunch + plenty of drinks, preferably water, hurley and helmet for Hurling and Camogie,  mouth guard for Football.
Suitable playing gear, tracksuit, shorts, runners, boots Rain jacket and changes of gear on wet days Sun cream and baseball hat and towel. Sun cream must be applied prior to the start time and be reapplied if necessary by themselves throughout the day.
On arrival at the club the kids may go to the stand to drop their bags and join their respective groups. Parents will need to join the queue and sign in their child to the camp, we hope to make this as time efficient as possible.
As all children will arrive to the camp with the same gear and bags please ensure your child’s bag and gear have their names clearly marked to ensure they will be able to locate their bags at break time. If your child has a particular key ring they will easily recognise please attach it to their bag. Parents who advised Allergies at time of booking must confirm their contact number to the camp co-ordinator at sign-in.
All children must be dropped inside the Club gates and signed in by a parent and collected from inside the club gates. We have in excess of 150 children attending this camp.  Their safety is our absolute priority. The gates will be closed at the club so parents are advised to park at the front when dropping and collecting their children. The camp start time and finish time is the same each day, 10am start and a finish pick up time of 2pm.
