Juvenile

Fe 11
On Sunday morning last our Fé 11’s took to the field for the first time in 2018. On a beautiful sunny day we played Douglas in three very competitive games. Although it’s early in the year the improvement on last year was very evident. All three teams performed excellent on the day. With some excellent individuals on show the teamwork from the lads was superb. Thanks to Douglas for hosting us with the pitch in very good condition for this time of the year. Training continues this week as we turn our attention to the small ball.
Well done again lads on a great effort. Magpies ABÚ

Fe 12
On Friday evening last in what can only be described as very challenging conditions more a kin to survival training than to an U12 football match we travelled to Cobh to play the locals.   In driving rain and very strong winds great credit is due to both teams for serving up some excellent passages of football. We played with the wind to their backs in the first half and managed to grab two goals and a point, while try as they may Cobh failed to register against a strong breeze.  The second half began with the hosts piling on the pressure assisted by the driving wind they scored two early points but great credit due to the magpies work rate only conceding one goal mid way through the second half, shortly thereafter we broke away for and excellent point, this proved to be the last score of the game but the match continued at a frantic pace till the final whistle.   Final Score Midleton 2.02 v Cobh: 1.02.
Our football league campaign will continue over the next two weeks v St Michaels and
Mallow. Special thanks to the parents who provided as usual invaluable support.

Fe 15
Our football panel played their third Fe 15 P2 Football League game at Copper Alley GAA field in Youghal last Sunday morning. Overhead conditions were perfect, the pitch, as is
understandable with the recent amount of rain fall was a bit soft but it held up very well for the duration of the game. We started well and the game was not long on when our full forward Brion Saunderson
dispatched the ball, with much aplomb to the back of the Youghal net. Darragh Codd then tagged on a neat point. This start gave our boys a good foundation to build their first half performance on. Ben O’Neill was next to slot over a point from twenty five meters out. Our  defence of Rory Hartnett, Shay Bohan and James Condon were dominating. The midfield pairing of Alex Quirke and Adam Fay were winning most of the possession around the middle of the field. Brion Saunderson’s next score was our third point of the day. Evan McCarthy then kicked over two points in a row. One of his points was a cracker that came from an acute angle 30 meters from the Youghal goal’s. A Brion Saunderson point made the score line Midleton 1-06 v Youghal 0-00. Just before half time Cian Murray kicked a point after a short solo run and the final score of the half for us was an Evan Kelly point which came from a flowing movement all the way out of our defence.
Half time Score: Midleton 1-08 (all from play) v Youghal 0-01.
Youghal came more into the game during the second half but the spine of our defence were formidable: Niall Corcoran in goals, Darragh McCarthy full back and Ciarmhac Smyth at center back. A point from a free from Evan Kelly was added to by two points from Brion Saunderson. Liam McGrath was next up to open his account for the Magpies with a point from in front of the goals. John Spellman’s eye for a goal delivered the Magpies their second goal of the day when he was on hand to fist a ball, that broke from the Youghal keeper, to the back of the net. Our final three scores came from Evan Kelly (2 points from frees) and a point from play from Alex Quirke.  Final Score: Midleton 2-16 v Youghal 0-02.
Midleton Panel: Niall Corcoran, Shay Bohan, Darragh McCarthy, Rory Hartnett, Darragh Codd (0-01) , Ciarmhac Smyth, James Condon, Adam Fay, Alex Quirke (0-01), Cian Murray(0-01), Evan Kelly (0-04), Evan McCarthy (0-02), Ben O’Neill (0-02), Brion Saunderson (1-04), Liam McGrath (0-01), Neil Fitzgerald, Phelim Magann, John Spellman (1-00), & Daire Mooney.
