Munster GAA Club Forum
Last Saturday the Munster GAA Club Forum took place at Pairc Ui Chaoimh with a crowd of over 300 people in attendance. There was a very impressive list of speakers beginning with Waterford’s Hurling manager Derek Mc Grath who spoke passionately about his ideas on coaching and his club De La Salle. The first parallel session on Club plans and a Pathway for Clubs was split between the two Kerry footballers Fionn Fitzgerald and Micheál Quirke.
We then heard from former Limerick player and manager T.J. Ryan who spoke candidly about his club Garryspillane outlining what works best for them in a rural area. It was then onto the second parallel session where both Paudie Butler (former National Hurling Director) and Kieran Leddy (Operations Manager of Munster Gaa) discussed effective Coaching & Administration. Terence Houlihan the Coaching Officer of the Kerry County Board then spoke very openly about the trials and tribulations of his home club in Killorglin, Laune Rangers. The final parallel session was presented by the two Cork men, Vice Chairman Kevin O’Donovan and Glen Rovers Stephen Mc Donnell who spoke on Volunteerism and the role of the GDA’s.
All of the presentations, feedback, etc. will be available soon on the Munster Gaa Website.
Representing our Clubs were Mairead Beausang, Tracey Saunderson, Ruth Walsh, Michael Carroll, Mike Kelly, Dan Twohig, Vincent Reddy and Coleman Quirke.
