Fe 6
We lined out in strength for home games in hurling against Youghal and Killeagh recently and did very well overall. The events was well supported by the club and particularly the Fé 6 parents who put on a great spread of treats for the players and for the local parents and visiting parents alike. We had over thirty players and everyone enjoyed the games.

Fe 13
Midleton v Eire Og, U13 Autumn Football League Rd 3.
The third round of the Fe13 Autumn Football League V Eire Og was played on Saturday 5th of November in Ovens. We had a fantastic turnout of 22 (on the age players) for this away match. The conditions were ideal when the ball was thrown in at 4pm.  After a great win against Nemo the previous week the hope was that we could reignite the passion and drive that was displayed that day. Our defence was rock solid for the duration of the game, but particularly in the first half they were outstanding both as individuals and as a unit. Brion Saunderson stopped two great shots, Fintan Greenwood, Roan Spillane and Niall Corcoran were superb. Evan Kelly, Ciarmhac Smyth and Neil Fitzgerald were brave when standing up to constant pressure from the Eire Og forward line. A breeze that got stronger as the first half developed, helped to prevent many of our attacks.

The half time score was Midleton 0-00 v Eire Og 1-04.
The second half was a completely different game. We dominated the possession and laid siege to the Eire Og goal. Ben O’Neill netted Midleton’s first score, a goal when he pounced on a ball that rebounded from the Eire Og goalkeeper and finished it to the net.  Evan McCarthy then followed our first score with a goal of his own, by sending in a low shot that gave the Eire Og net minder no chance of blocking it. Alex Quirke, Shay Bohan and Kane Rowlands recoded three great points. But our accuracy on the day was to prove to be our Achilles heel. We did ask players before the game to take responsibility by taking more shots on goal, this they did respond very positively too, but alas numerous shots were just wide of the target. The game finished on a score line of Midleton 2-03, Eire Og 2-06.
We will be back training on Wednesday and the next round of the football league is V Mallow in Midleton next weekend. Please keep an eye on texts for any further updates.
A win against Mallow still leaves a chance of qualifying for the playoff game.
Panel: B Saunderson, N. Corcoran, F Greenwood, R Spillane, N Fitzgerald, C Smyth, E Kelly, L McGrath, S Bohan, E. McCarthy (1-00), D McCarthy, C Murray, B O’Neill (1-00), R Gies, R Hartnett, J Condon, A Quirke, J O’Sullivan, J Spellman, K Rollins (0-01), D Codd & K Barry.

Fe 14
Congrats to our hurlers and management who had a fantastic victory over Sars in the Rebel Og Premier 1 League final last Sunday afternoon in Caherlag after extra time by 3-10 to 2-11.
Our lads done very well to come back from 1-06 to 1-02 down at halftime to force the game to extra time. Well done to all involved in what was their final game of the year.

Fe 15
Another away trip and venture into West Cork for the Premier 2 Football League Semi Final last Thursday. This time the venue was Macroom under lights and our opponents were Castlehaven who we beat against the odds in 2015.This year we were underdogs again and in the early stages it looked like we could have been overrun and beaten heavily.
However as on so many occasions with this group of lads they got back into the game and gave Castlehaven something to think about. In the end we lost by seven points but came off the pitch with heads held high. Final score Castlehaven 6-11 v Midleton 6-04.
Team: Leo Hennessy, Dan O'Sullivan, Dave Scanlon, Charlie Walsh, Tim O'Sullivan, Adam Meade, Christian Murphy, Ethan Daly, Samuel Quirke, Frank O'Brien, Aaron Mulcahy, Cian Crowley, Conor Fitzgerald, Paul Connaghton, Jack Fitzgerald, Gavin Reddy & Rory Donegan.

Fe 16
On Monday night last at Sallybrook, our footballers came up short against Glanmire in the Quarter Final of the Premier 1 Football League on a scoreline of 0-13 to 2-3. In truth, Glanmire were on top from the start but though we were short a number of players, fought to the end and certainly made them work for the full sixty minutes. The game could have been tighter had we been more economical in front of the posts, but we squandered a number of score-able chances when we looked like scoring goals. The half time score was 0-6 to 0-2 and Glanmire held this 4 point margin to the final whistle.
Team: Jake Shanahan, Alan Power, Christian Murphy, Cormac O Brien, Mark Daly, Ciaran Evans, David Scanlon, Kevin Finn, Ross O Regan, Loic Nguefang, Tommy O Connell, Evan Rowlands, Ronan Lynch, Arthur Nganou, Fergus Wade, Adam O Connell, Ryan O Riordan.

On Friday last our Fe 16 Hurlers had a useful workout against the hurlers of Presentation College in Bishopstown. This was in preparation for the upcoming League Final against Blarney which is to be played on the 12th of November. We were short a number of players but we were much too strong for the opposition, winning out in the end by 6-22 to 3-13.
Team: Ryan O Riordan, Fergus Wade, Christian Murphy, Alan Power, Mark Daly, Cormac O Brien, Evan Rowlands, Tommy O Connell, Kevin Finn, Loic Nguefang, Ross O Regan, Ronan Lynch, Adam O Connell, Arthur Nganou & David Scanlon.
